Can of worms or snakes?

I recently took a 2005 Sportsman 500 HO (with 700 plastics???) on a trade and need some advice as to whether or not you guys think it's worth spending money to get it right or just part it out. After an inspection this is what I know so far:

Hot light flashes even when cold. I'm thinking this is just a bad temp sensor. Will try to test it in boiling water soon.

Speedo doesn't work but AWD indicator comes on and gear indicator works (pretty sure the speed sensor wire is ripped out)

Loose shifter with no clear gear selection, maybe the spring for the shift linkage is broken?

Runs but smokes. Going to start with a carb rebuild kit before I spend money on a top end kit.

AWD won't engage, missing one CV, the diff seems okay, but likely needs a seal kit, going to try a speedo bypass to see if I can get it to engage

Brakes...NONE. I have no idea what the previous owner used it for other than just beating the crap out of it because the brakes are gone. What's left of the rear caliper is in the rear storage box. The front calipers are there, but the master cylinder is pretty corroded and the cap is missing.

Overall I think that it's a good starting point that just needs some love. It has 2662 miles and around 240 hours, so I don't think it's beyond saving but would appreciate any opinions. I mainly traded because of the parts that are on it:

Wild Boar radiator relocation kit
HMF Swamp exhaust
Warn 3.0 winch
MSA M20 Kore 14" wheels
29.5" Terminator tires w/ about half tread

Yay or nay?

Gear Indicator Lights

Hello - I just purchased a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. and love it. I did notice that the Low gear indicator light does not turn on when in Low gear. The N and R both work fine, the gears work fine and the AWD works fine. So, everything seems to work perfect but the Low gear indicator light just doesn't light up. Is this something I should worry about? Does the 2002 even have that light available? Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!

Polaris outlaw 110 stalls in when wet?

I'm new to the forum. I bought my 2 kids 110 efi's last year. 1 outlaw & 1 sportsman. They run great. The kids love them. One problem is if it is wet out and they rip through a puddle, I'm not talking about a deep puddle. We're talking 3 to 6 inches deep. But at speed so as to splash water up. They will stall and be no start for 5 or so minutes. Seems electrical but other than the one module up near the front I don't know of anything. Plus I sprayed that box with it running and it does not stall. I sprayed all up under everything and could not get either of them to stall. But one whoosh through a puddle and shutdown!!

I would think there is a common denominator because both machines do it. Of course the outlaw more than the sportsman just due to the lack of protection from water splash on the outlaw. Any magic bullets for this??

Thanks for any help

Family set up= 110 sportsman, 110 outlaw, 570 sportsman EPS, Arctic Cat 550H1 2up.
