I recently installed a Maverick engine in my 2011 outlander XXC, and I have terrible cranking issues, especially when its hot. I have replaced the battery, no help. I typically have to keep jumper cables with me in case it acts up and needs a boost.
I have check wiring, replaced solenoid, and purchased a starter (haven't installed it yet), but nothing has changed. I voltage drop tested the starter, .3v which is fine, was gonna do an amp draw test but haven't gotten my hands on an amp clamp yet.
That said, when I get a jump start, OR hook my charger on 40 amp setting, it cranks excellent. So I am wondering if I am chasing my tail replacing parts on something that just needs more power? MrRPM said he uses Lithium ion batteries in his BBK bikes, but your talking 3-600 for a battery! IF I knew if would work, I would certainly bite the bullet and get one, but I'd sure hate to spend that money and be cranking like before!
So I was hoping to find someone that possibly had the same issue that could help out? My only other idea was the 24v start system, or add a second full size battery and mount in the rear compartment as a normal 12v secondary battery, but didn't want to have to get into using an isolater and make it complicated.
Any help would be appreciated!!
