1999 Sportsman 335 – Belt Deflection – Non EBS

Bought a new belt, thought mine was stretched, when idles real slow or shut off machine it hits the inside of the cover - I see wear marks on it. This is a new to me ATV.
So the new belt has same deflection, it sits about 1/16" above the sheaves of the secondary when not running.
ATV runs and shifts fine, I just don't like the belt hitting the cover.
The only thing I found to adjust deflection is shimming the sheaves, the trans in not adjustable to move out the center to center dimension.
If I add shims (just got clutch off - so do not know what or how many shims are in it- looks original) this will make sheaves further apart, moving belt out some but it will lower it from the top of the sheave when not running.
Is this the correct process...
I need or would like to pick up about 1/4".
If I would of known the new belt same as old, I would of bought a shorter belt.
Playing with the idea of making a tensioner for the belt.
Thanks in advance...

2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 Clutch Spring Question

Hey everyone,

Just trying to wrap my head around this whole using different clutch springs on this machine.

A few of my friends are telling me that I can change out the clutch spring in the primary.

What are the different type of springs and what is accomplished with changing them out and where can these be purchased.

Most of the usage I will be performing with this machine is trail riding, some off road, and snowplowing.

Cheers

New to the group

Hi Ya'll,
Just joined this group since purchasing my 2008 Sportsman 800. I love this thing and hope to keep it in tip-top shape.
I look forward to interacting with many of you!

Outlander 400

Hey everyone, new here and really new to forums and I need some help please. I’m in need of a crankshaft for a 400. Can’t find one anywhere.

1998 sport 400

Ok guys, holding throttle down in gear or not. It'll rev to about 2000 rpm and then drops spark until it falls to maybe 16-1800 rpm and then revs back up again to around 2000. This process will go all day long. Acts like the speed limiter is kicking in but I've disconnected it. New stator, new flywheel, swapped coil, ETC functioning properly, unplugged ground from cdi. Where do I go next? Anyone had a similar issue?

New Can-am owner!

Greetings from Central Oregon. I recently picked up two 2018 outlander 570 xt's for the wife and I. I got her the Max for hauling the kids around, she usually just idles around the roads on the private property we hunt and camp, I went with the one up so I can sneak back to the tight spots to pack the elk out. I've been shopping for awhile but finally decided on the can-am. I hope to learn a bunch here.

Newbie with Predator 90

Hello,

I just joined this forum after finding it online. Glad there is a place I can go to hopefully get some help. I just purchased a 2003-2006 Predator 90 for my 11 year old daughter for $200.00 from my old boss, plus gas and a nice meal, so I have about $450.00 in it, then realized it had a cracked gas tank, so I bought an aftermarket one off of Ebay, yet to see it fits. We just recently returned from Ocotillo Wells for New Years, I got the little 90 running pretty good, re-sealed the reed valve/intake, rebuilt the carb, and had to bypass the throttle safety switch, it was damaged somehow and wouldn't let the engine rev. After all of this it was running really good, it is hard to start in the morning when its cold, but I think I have it to rich, hot it with a little starter fluid and it fires right up, and is easy to start from there after. This is where it gets interesting, my daughter ran it into the back of a trailer over the weekend, she's okay, she had all of her gear on, and the trailer is okay, but our new little 90 not so good. Besides cracking the hell of the front plastics, and cracking my repair on the gas tank (I had repaired with an epoxy kit until I got the new one). After we pulled it out from the trailer, it wont start, meaning the start switch doesn't do anything. it has power to the reverse and neutral lights, and the taillight, but when you hit the starter button it does nothing. Any ideas on what could have been damaged during this hit with the trailer? Could the CDI been damaged just from the impact, it didn't get hit, but maybe just jarred. Is there a breaker or something that needs to be reset? I cant find a breaker, but maybe I cant see it. Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as now the family wants to go back to Ocotillo for Presidents day!

Thanks,

Newbie Brunson
