Buying new outlander XTP 1000r. Advice needed. 2017 or 2018?

I am buying an Outlander XTP 1000r. My first question is there any differences between the 2017 and the 2018? Like i have read about exhaust heating up and warping the plastics? Would the 2018 have that same issue?

The 2017 the local dealer says is $1000 cheaper than the 2018. I guess thats the rebates. I read in here that someone else got 2017 XTP for $1700 cheaper.

When i do order it..... what addons or assesories should i add? As in which skid plates? Or would aftermarket skid plates be better than what can am offers? Hand warmers? Side protection rail? Or better to just order it as stock and find aftermarket companies for addons and assessories?

Also any advice is welcome of things i may not have thought of.

Thank you.

Won’t start – tried 2 batteries – acts like a dead battery

I started the ATV fine yesterday, I let it warm up wile my father and I pulled a second ATV off a trailer and put on a Plow (I live In VT). At some point it must have stalled and I didn't notice. I got it started long enough to move it 5 feet and now I cannot get it going again. If I turn the key all the lights turn on and I the instrument panel turns on to. As soon as I turn to key to engage the starter, I get a click and the instrument panel lights turn off.

I would have thought it was the battery, but I pulled the Brand New battery from the second ATV and tried it and I get the same results. That and my original battery attached is an aftermarket Gel battery that shows a full 12.6V charge.

97 Sportsman 500 can’t get it to run for a year

I'm new to the forum, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

About a year ago, my atv backfired when I was about to plow our driveway. At the time, it ran while slowing pouring gas in through the air hose. I had assumed that the bowl was blocked up, tried to clean it with carb cleaner to no avail. Eventually, I decided to buy a aftermarket carb (see URL below). I put the new carb in, I have spark, and compression. The atv still won't run, but now it will run if I spray a little ether in the air filter. It runs for a second off the ether, but never runs off the gas. I'm at my wits end with this thing and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

New to Can-Am ATVs

Hi everyone,

I'm retired and am from central PA. For a number of years I belonged to a Jeep 4x4 group and owned a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. It was fun but I wanted to experience 'quading' so bought a Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS, joined a club and never went back to Jeeping again.

Of course I traded my Polaris in for '1' BIG reason.... Mudding. So traded up to Can-Am Outlander 570 X-mr. Great decision and this past weekend rode through the mud where my Polaris bogged down in and Outlander X-mr went through the mess easily.

So, now more confident when riding through just about anything.

Love riding and hope to offer tips, tricks and etc. to all.

Righ Idle, on power, backfiring…

Looking for advise here. I have a 2015 Sportsman 570 with about 50 miles on it and the other day it started bogging down and backfiring while out in the field. I managed to get it back on the trailer before it really crapped out, thankfully. Right now it barely idles and if I get it running and rev the motor it will back fire and spit and sputter. I changed out the sparkplug, pulled the fuel rail and injector out (they looked clean no gunk), the spark plug was fouled. After that I took it for a spin around the neighborhood and it ran like crap, backfiring and falling on its self.
About a week ago I put a new tank of gas in it, so of course the tank is full! I am thinking that it is a gas/gas delivery problem. My next step is to drain the tank and blow out the fuel line and pull the fuel pump to see if there is any gunk blocking the flow of fuel...

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks
John
