question about polaris sportsman ext

I just bought a used 2015 polaris sportsman ext and for the first 4weeks I've had it, it has worked great. Now, when we first start it, we have to let it warm up for 5 minutes or so or it will die as soon as you hit the gas. It starts fine, idles fine while it's warming up, and runs great after the warm up period. Any ideas on what could cause this?

CoolKev1949

Hi all, I’m new to the forum, and I’m looking for instructions on how to remove and replace the starter bendix. I’ve removed the starter, but can’t find anything about how to remove the bendix. Can anyone out there help me please? I bought a DVD shop manual, but there’s nothing in it about bendix drive removal. Is there a better shop manual I can purchase somewhere? My ATV is a 04 400cc Outlander

Canadian can amers

There’s this cool Facebook page called Canadian can am give always. It’s sort of a raffle every time there’s a draw. Seems pretty cool. Next time I feel like gambling that’s what I’ll be doing! Apparently it’s taken off in the states. Not so much in Canada but they are hoping to up their members once it catches on.

Hello

Just bought a 2010 Outlander Max 800r LTD a month ago and have really enjoyed it so far. Headed to Hatfield and McCoy soon to put it to the test. I have rode HM in the past as well as areas out by Phoenix and Blue Royal in TN as well as other small parks in IN. Look forward to enjoying the forums.

2018 XMR suspension adjustment

Hey guys. New here from Long Island. Bought my 18' XMR 1000 2 months ago. Yup, I'm one of those guys who bought it because it looks cool. I read that it will ride like crap ahead of time. I didn't know it would be this bad though. In my opinion, the dealer set it up wrong to begin with. The preload adjusters on the shocks were cranked down so tight that the suspension wouldn't cycle at all going over bumps. I mean like zero movement. I don't care if it's a mud machine. The suspension should move when your riding it. I read that you should have something like 30% squat at ride height with a rider on it. I'm 235 lbs and it didn't move at all when I sat on it. I spent 2 hours messing around with the preload adjusters. I got the front dialed in to a barely acceptable level, but the rear is a major pain in the rear. Literally. In the end I loosened the rear adjusters until they were barely touching the tops of the springs at full droop. It still doesn't move enough when riding. Not only that, there's only about 2 inches of the shock shaft visible at ride height now. So now I'm basically bottoming out the shocks on hard hits. Even a mud machine needs a suspension that moves.

I read that the tires give it a lousy ride. I took off the Cryptoids and put on a set of 28" Mongrels that I had hanging around. They helped, but only a little. I dropped the air pressure down to 6 psi. This helped also but the suspension is still too stiff in my opinion. I had a friend that weighs about the same as me ride it around while I watched. Even with almost no preload on the springs the rear is just not moving enough when going over bumps. At this point I'm thinking it's less about the shocks and more about the springs. They're just too stiff. Rather than buy a set of elkas, which I'm willing to do if I have to, maybe playing around with the spring rates would help ?

I searched the site but came up with nothing. So my question is this. Has anyone messed around with different springs on these machines to soften the ride enough to let the suspension move as it should ? I'm thinking maybe XTP max springs on my factory Fox shocks would help ? I hear the XTP rides better. My buddies outlander with stock non fox shocks rides like a dream. I saw these works performance shocks with 3 different springs stacked on top of each other. Maybe something like that ? Please don't beat me to death with the "you bought a mud machine, what did you expect" argument. The trailing arms should still move through their full range of motion. Anyway, I would appreciate some guidance here. I'm not ready to scrap these shocks yet. Thanks.

Got an awesome deal on a barely used 850!

Hey friends, I've been looking for an 850, and ran across an awesome deal on Craigslist. It was a '13 850XP with only 211 miles, and the price was certainly right. Long story short, everything checked out to be in perfect shape, so I paid the asking price and took it home!

I'm planning on getting a body rack made for it, plus I need to get a front storage box like the older ones had...they are really handy to have small items right there all the time. Just thought I'd share my excitement! I'll post any updates or questions if they arise.

2014 sportsman 570 bogs and dies in 2wd but fine in 4wd

Just bought this machine three weeks ago and have had it out twice in the mud for 10+ Hour days without any problems until now.

I went up north with my buddy to atv into his cottage and when I went to unload the machine it started right up but would bog when I hit the throttle and die if I held the throttle. And the engine light would come on every time I hit the throttle. I thought it just needed to warm up a bit since it was only the second time I’d used it in the cold so I babied it off the trailer and let it idle for ten mins or so but it was still acting up and would only rev up to 3300rpms before bogging out and dieing again.

We decided the quad wasn’t usable so I left it on the trailer and took the boat in while my friend took his atv in.

Fast forward to today. The truck got stuck trying to tow the trailer up the hill and my friends atvs 4x4 conked out so I tried my atv and it would run fine in 4x4 but would bog and die and have the engine light come on anytime I tried to move it while in 2x4.

I was able to use my machine to tow the trailer up the hill and had no problems with it revving up and had tons of powe while it was in 4x4 but would bog and die if I tried to move it even without the trailer on if I was in two wheel drive. Engine light would still come on in two wheel drive when I hit the throttle but wouldn’t come on at all in 4wd

Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? Thanks
