2000 Polaris Explorer 250 electrical problems

Hello,
I have a 2000 polaris explorer 250 2 stroke. The lights and starter went dead and a clicking clicking sound started coming from the circuit breaker that has a rubber boot covering it to the left of the solenoid. It clicks intermittently. I checked all of the wires and put in a new battery and key ignition, still the same. I noticed that the key ignition was heating up a little, even before I got the new ignition and after. I noticed that 2 wires on the key ignition were heated up and blackened a little. I cleaned them up and they seem O.K. I am not sure if it is the left handlebar switch ( mine looks like it is in real good shape it was outside alot though I did open it up a little bit and sprayed cleaner and air hosed it off.) or if it is the circuit breaker with the boot on it that keeps clicking. Some say if it clicks it is O.K. and some say it could still be bad. I can pull start it O.K. and it will start.I also jumped the solenoid and the starter works fine. Also a few times when I was messing with it everything came back to life and then went dead again. I just want to get an experts opinion before I buy the left handlebar switch just in case it is something else. Can the circuit breaker be bad when it clicks? I would appreciate any output. Thank you very much. Frank Sibolski

new 2018 570 competitive price?

I started out planning on spending around $3K on a pre-owned 500 Sportsman as we've had good luck with the early 2000s 500 sportsman. My brother still runs the one I bought new in 2001. Anyways after seeing the prices on the used ones and the condition and uncertainty of the history on used units I'm pretty set that I'm going to just go new.

Quote I received today in Northern Ohio on a new 2018 570 EPS Camo that has a MSRP of $8,099:
$7,099 Sale price
$ 479 - Ohio Sales Tax at 6.75
$ 399 - Freight / Prep
$ 85 - Title

$8,062 Out The Door

Non EPS Camo unit quote was $900 less @ $7,162 OTD
Base Green Non EPS unit was another $500 less at $6,662 OTD

Thoughts on these quotes? This was over the phone. I have another quote a little higher by email. The phone quote is the place I'd prefer to buy from and plan to visit tomorrow in person.

If they would include the warn windlass installed at the prices quoted I'd probably pull the trigger on one of them. I will ride an EPS/EBS and non EPS/EBS unit to be sure of that first.

Appreciate any insight?

I can pay cash but am thinking I will go ahead and put about half on the Polaris finance program unless there are any red flags there? Able to pay off early without penalty?

Thanks,
Steve

Hello. I just picked up a new Polaris plow for my 2015 Sportsman 570. This is my first one.

Anyone know how tight i should have the self locking nuts on the plow pivot to the blade? i cant seem to get them very tight, lots of play on both ends.

Thx

450 engine… simple performance mods? EPI Clutch springs?

Are there any mods that you can do to get a little bit more out of the 450 engine? Yes, I know, I should have gotten the 570 engine, but it's too late for that.

Things that are a given... exhaust, air filter, in conjunction with a fuel tuner. But that's a ton of money to spend for 1 hp. Yes, they actually say you only get 1 hp on the FMF website.

Something I'm curious about is this clutch spring kit.

Anyone have any actual experience with this kit? Any idea of what this would do for me? I was also looking at the Dalton brand kit, but they are saying that theirs is ONLY for oversized tires.

Power point

Does anyone know how much power I can run thru the power plug on the side of the quad? I'm looking to run a power window motor thru it to turn the chute on my snowblower so there won't be much of a load on it and it will run for no more than about 10-15 seconds at a time. Ideas anyone?

Valve adjustment

Hey guys. The time has come to do the valve adjustment on my 2017 hd10. I opened up the rear cylinder and three out of four were out of spec. My problem is I?m not sure of the easy route to access the front cylinder. Any ideas? I scoured the internet looking for videos but nothing for my specific model. Thank you in advance.
