ATV Rookie

Hi all. Glad I found the forum. Tons of great info in here. This past fall, I picked up a 2004 Sportsman 400. It's in decent shape and I plan on using it for farm work and hunting. Thought I'd do some basic maintenance on it as I'm not entirely certain when all of it was last done.
So far I've managed to blow out my oil tank due to low temps, and just today had to use a heli-coil to repair the threads on the transmission drain threads. So, getting to know the bike more and more by the second. LOL
I'm also learning how tough it can be to find info on older bikes like mine, as well as parts.

Thanks for all the info and I'm sure I'll be asking questions from time to time in the Sportsman forum and around.

1995 Polaris 400l 2×4 won’t move in forward gear

I bought a 4 wheeler under the assumption it was only really gonna need a chain and sprockets set but not that's on I tried to get it to move under it's own power after replacing the petcock that leaked a gallon of fuel out runs great bike idles nice revs fine smokes good will move in reverse once I put in reverse and hold the overdrive button but when I put in forward gear no movement I'm sorry if I left something out I'm new to owning a atv and I had to buy used due to budget and credit but I am mechanically inclined just not sure what's making it do this it seems it's going into gear both ways

Pulling to the right

My '96 Magnum 425 2WD is pulling to the right. I have all of the tires aired to 15 psi as closely as I can. I lifted the front end in the air and pushed/pulled/pried on both sides, but I don't see anything that is glaringly wrong. I replaced the tie rods on both sides probably 18 months ago, and I think I have the toe in pretty close. Anyone with experience on the front ends of these have any suggestions to check?

Thanks.

2008 polaris sportsman 500 front diff lube

I am working on this Polaris and am a little confused about the filling the oil in the diff., there is a fill hole and the drain hole then it has a hose with a reservoir that in the book says it takes Polaris adc or aw iso 10 fluid. Then open 2 bleeder valves to let the air out. Is this 2 different systems or the same? Any input would be great. Thanks

Problem w/ intermittent defrost a/c

Have a '11 Crown Vic with 290k miles and I've been having a problem with the windows fogging up all the way around. The defrost seems to be working about half the time. On humid rainy days it'll work for say a half hour keeping the windows clear, then the windows will fog hard for 10-15 mins. And then it might decide to start working again, back and forth it goes. When I started it just now the compressor clutch turns when the a/c is turned on, although I haven't had a chance to observe it when the windows are fogging.

A secondary problem it has is that it only blows air through the vents on the front of the dash, straight out into the cabin. The air flows only very weak out the defrost vent at the windshield or the floor. It does this on all settings. Although this might contribute somewhat to the problem, it seems like the a/c does completely cut out as the windows will still fog hard with the a/c set to on and on full fan. When it cuts off the air in the cabin feels immediately humid. One that that helps somewhat is to turn the temp toward cooler and it seems to not fog as much and gives it a chance to maybe clear the fog some.

Any idea what's causing this or what I should do to start testing?

2018 renegade xxc lowering options

im looking for a way to lower my renegade, i was wondering if it is possible with the stock fox podiums. if not, would anybody have any ideas on how i could do it. i use my renegade as my daily driver now, my wife has her car so i figured why not sell mine, especially as its so much more fun on the renegade in the norwegian winter, and i dont have to pay for the insane toll gates dotted all over the city, plus im allowed to ride in the bus lanes which is rush hour heaven. i already do a lot of long road trips (250-300km+) but id like to lower the centre of gravity to help road cornering a little. i have no problem riding up to the speed limit at the moment, but id feel safer if i was a little closer to the ground. i already use gbc afterburn street tyres in the summer, and the stock rubber in the winter due to the 6 month freeze and snow we get here.

phoenix 200 choke cable

Hi all,

So i have a 2005 200 phoenix and when I move the choke lever, the cable does not slide through the jacket but bends out.
When I manually slide the cable it seems ok. The cable is kinked a little from previous owners but before I ordered a new one for $35, I wanted to reach out to the forum.
Attached are two pics.
