Outfitting the New 570

We started outfitting the 570 with some of the gear we had on the 2008.

Because the Ultility Edition has no lock and ride I had to come up with another way to mount the rear storage bin. I went to the hardware store and found some black steel with a 90 degree angle to bolt to the utility rack and we had some gun mount hardware kicking around. Helps keep my bin from sliding back and forward and it's easily removed.

I also took a section of the front basket out so the chainsaw fit better. Mounted the fishing rod holder to the back under the bin. Keeps it out of the way and snag free.

2006 sportsman 500 ho efi fuel pump will not shut off and will stall out while riding

Hi I have a problem with my machine it stalls out while riding like it is running out of gas. It will start right back up and I can ride it again for 10 or 15 minutes then will do the same thing.also when the key is in the on position the fuel pump will turn on but never turns off I'm not sure but shouldn't it run to a certain pressure then turn off? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or input.

2018 570 Base tire upgrade

Hello all, so i have a 2018 Sportsman 570 base model and i am looking to upgrade the tires and rims from stock. My plan is to stud the stock tires for my winter outings and specifically for ice fishing. However i want to get some nicer wheels and rims for my spring/summer/fall riding. https://atvtirescanada.com/traxion-g...k-package.html i have found this package and with taxes i'm around $850 which i thought was a pretty solid deal. Only issue i'm running into is when i go to buy them they only give the option of Ace machines. my understanding is the 570 sportsman base and 570 Ace are both the same size stock tires; 25x8x12 and 25x10x12, so i don't think ill have any issues mounting and rubbing. Just looking for some insight to others opinions or if they've run into the same issue.

- Thanks

Polaris sportsman 700 engine rebuild

I am rebuilding a 2004 Polaris 700. The bottom piece of the cylinder broke and seized the piston to the cylinder and in return bent and ripped the bottom piece of the connecting rod out of the crankshaft. I got all new parts for it and I am starting to piece it back together. My question is do I have to prime or bleed the oil pump after the motor is all put together and in the bike? I know on the 400 and 500 you have to prime/purge the oil pump after a rebuild. I’m just a little concerned as I know the lifters are hydraulic and the incorrect oil pressure can screw things up in the top end. Thanks I’m advance!!

Rust proofing

Looking underneath my Outlander I see the exhaust is rusting up and there are a few rock chips on black painted metal that are starting to rust.
So 2 questions:

Is there something I can apply to the exhaust to stop it rusting and to make it look prettier? Like spray on undercoat? Paint? Bed liner?
What about these small rock chip areas? Do you guys repaint those areas?

Thanks!

Michigan Ohio Indiana trail buddy needed

Thinking ahead even with a spring trip a little way out yet, but it takes time to communicate w/ one another making sure we might have things in common, could be so many things, but I'm pretty flexible, as long as I'm out riding trails, here in Michigan! Prefer a friend over 50 so as to have more in common, but I ride w/ my kids, and their buddies many times since 86, but their not able to ride this season. Get with me and hopefully we can plan a trip, as soon as weather is on our side, once again, Thanks, Steve

2004 Polaris 400 AWD sportsman 400

Good morning, friend brought in this 2004 Polaris 400 AWD sportsman 400 Independent suspension.

The rear suspension bushings on upper and lower control arms were worn out as well as the front side also, plus the rear CV axles boots and front left also where worn out. We installed all bushings, removed all three CV axles to install boots put everything back again.
When we started her up their is a grinding NOISE when shifting in reverse and low and it will not move on the ground, sometimes it will engage but turn off.
We jacked it up and the grinding noise is still their around the shifter linkage on the transmission, but the atv will engage in reverse and low and it runs smooth on the lift on all four tires, we disengaged the AWD and the rear wheels will run smooth by themselves also.
We spin the tires on neutral on the lift and they spin freely all four of them, everything seems to be in order like when removed it axles spin freely with no signs of binding or freezing up.

Did we miss something on installation? Hope someone can help.

Thanks
jll

Timing issue ( maybe???)

Hi, I've got a 97 Scrambler. I was riding it around the yard and it ran fine. Parked it and had no spark. Traced it to pick up coil and replaced the stator assembly with a Caltric replacement and added a new ignition coil for good measure. Fired it up after replacement (ran great) and it went about 100 ft then quit like it was running lean. Pushed it back to the garage and stared to run tests on it. Here is what I found.

It has spark, big fat spark that will jump over 1/2 inch

It has compression 150#

The timing marks on the cam and flywheel align and the chain is tight( I see the T through the port on recoil and the pin on the cam is pointed to top of motor)

The cam seems fine, the rocker arms have plenty if travel.

The the pick up coil is gapped at .055"

I have bypassed a fuel issue by removing carb and spraying ether directly to cyclinder.

I have done the following:

Pulled flywheel and inspected woodruff key for damage

Check stator plate for alignment and the marks still line up.

Set valve clearance .006

Replaced plugs twice

Removed exhaust, carb and plug and let it sit for 24 hrs to clear any potential flooding.(it had no gas smell, header and plugs were dry but just in case)

Charge battery

Inspected all the electrical connections

And now I'm trying to turn over, spraying ether directly into intake (no carb) and it doesn't even so much as fart o backfire. Is it possible to be 180 degrees off on these motors? It seems impossible to me.
