Just wanted to say hi and ask a question!

Hello! I recently acquired a 96 Sportsman 500 from my parents that they have tried for years to get started but couldn't figure it out. So I replaced the stator, cdi box, New coil and plug wire, new plug as well. Still wouldn't start so after pulling the valve cover off and the rocker arms I noticed severe wear on the cam. Then decided to pull the head to see how the valves and piston looked and they were rusted badly. This quad sat for over 6 years after being abused my my younger brother. So I decided to rebuild the entire engine which was only about $500 surprisingly. I'm also an aircraft mechanic so I did my own labor which saved tremendously. So after the rebuild I also replaced the carb, valves, springs and even ported and polished the head then set everything to spec. Started up no problem idles perfect, revs in neutral all the way to full throttle so im thinking great not bad for $500 then comes the issue I can't seem to figure out. It runs great at low speeds alot of torque and power but after 1/2 throttle it starts to sputter and lose power. I have adjusted the new carb over and over replaced the jets and needle moved the e clip in all directions. New air filter new fuel, and the new fuel lines everything is new. Im starting to think it has something to do with the clutch or belt? Has anyone ever seen the same thing when a clutch is going out or a belt is worn. I have not pulled the clutch cover off yet and it has been sitting and probably rusty but wanted to see if this is a possibility before I tear into it. Thank you all for your time.

New to Can Am

Question, I'm close to purchasing my first outlander xt max. So will a 2019 outlander xt max fit in the bed of my short bed 2016 f150 or should I bring my trailer to bring it home. If I wasn't driving 9 hours away I wouldn't question it but don't want to rent a trailer when I have my own.

Oil leaking from chain tensioner

I have some oil leaking from my rear chain tensioner. My question is, if I can just take off the two bolts holding the tensioner to replace the O-Ring that’s in there. Just making sure I can do that and I don’t screw anything up

Preparing for the summer…advice please.

Hello all, new member and new to trail riding atv’s. I have a 2017 sportsman 570 base model that I bought brand new for mainly hunting and working around the house that I now have about a whopping 25 miles on and getting tired of it not getting used so I’d like to join friends and head up to northern Michigan this summer. Some of the things that I’m not sure about are the tires and shocks. Will the stock tires hold up (not rock climbing or going mudding) or are they prone to easily puncture? Are the stock shocks worth a darn for trail riding or should I just get some aftermarket ones? I will be taking my wife for some two up riding but she’s only 110lbs and I’m 175. I’m looking to make this enjoyable without wishing I had this or that. I know a lot of it is personal preference but the main thing im concerned about are the stock components. I trail ride sleds and nothing sucks more than a friend that doesn’t have a good sled or maintains it properly. Any other helpful gadgets I should invest in other than a winch? Thanks in advance.
