Was riding yesterday and my wife noticed the lens on the speedometer had a crack in it, we only have 370 miles on our 2016 Outlander 650 max xt no hard riding. The dealer said bring it in he will replace under warranty so no problem. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. We really like the machine so far our last atv was a 2001 Honda Rancher good machine but no comparison to this one looking forward to many years of enjoyment.
Differences in 650XT from 2008 to now
I recently sold my 2008 Outlander 650XT and am looking for a replacement. Can anybody tell me what has changed since 2008 other than power steering? At this point I am debating between a used 2013 with 550 miles or a new 2017.
Thanks

700 Sportsman VIN location
Ok, I know this topic has been beat to death but I cannot find the VIN stamped in the frame of my '02 700 Sportsman. I have the owners manual and searched online for info. I've sanded the lower frame rail behind the left front wheel and haven't found anything stamped there. There also aren't any signs of swirl or grinder marks. Is there another location where the VIN is stamped? I'm running out of ideas on where to look...

New member but I have been on the site many times. Great site and enjoy the sharing of information. About a month ago I bought a new 2017 Sportsman 450.
No Power won’t start HELP
Installed a winch, wired directly to the battery tested the winch without the bike on for a few minutes. I realized hey I might have drained the battery tried to crank and nothing but trying to crank noises and instrument lights flickered. Jump started with the truck and would shut off once I disconnected the jumper cables. Found 4 out of 6 battery cells dry, refilled and threw it on the charger. Now the instrument cluster will turn on then try to crank and everything shuts off. Disconnected then reconnected the battery and the instrument cluster will turn on then try to crank and everything dies again. All fuses are good.
Is it a relay problem? Is it a breaker? I need help hunting season is 2 weeks away.
Thank you in advance

Crank issue?
Hi I am new at this forum and I have a 2011 outlander 800 and the motor had a tick/knock to it with steel shavings in the oil. I changed the timing chains last year and it didn't seem to fix the issue. I have to motor tore down now and can't seem to find the issue. Was thinking there was going to be some obvious groves in the crank or bearings, but can't see anything. Wondering if anyone has any input on something obvious I should be looking for. Thanks

Upgraded Tie-Rod
I brought out my 2004 Sportsman on her maiden run this past weekend and when on a straightaway, especially on asphalt, the front end sways like crazy (almost a death wobble but controllable). I finally inspected the front end and there is excessive play in all the tie rod ends.
My local Polaris dealer $72.99 per tie rod end, so $291.96!
I found on Amazon, an upgrade kit that consists of 12mm rods (instead of the 10mm OEM rods) and 4 tie rod ends, along with all the hardware for $148.99 with free shipping. Its basically 1/2 price for an AllBalls upgrade and all new parts.
Question, does anyone see a problem with this?
Anything wrong going a bit thicker (no negative effects)?
Do the tie rods themselves ever get bent or damaged, other than hitting rocks I guess?
I think I will order this as the first step.
Once everything is apart I will have a better look at all the bushings. What else can contribute to high speed steering wobble (left to right to left... increasing with speed and traction).

Sweet Smelling Exhaust
I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 HO. I have a 300' long gravel driveway that I drag. Lately the ORV has been overheating after about 20 minutes of dragging. I also notice a very sweet smell in my exhaust. No smoke. I brought it to a small engine shop and they could not get it to overheat. Any ideas whats going on?
