Differential bearings

Hello, I just picked up a sonic cleaner. Wondering what these bearings are made of so I know which cleaner to use or avoid.

First post: Outlander xtp vs xtp max

Hello everyone,

First post and currently non can am owner.

My question is: Do I want a max or a regular length outlander xtp?

Read below for background and details.

I got the go ahead from my better half to get us 2 quads so we can start riding together by next April/may 2018. She says she's not into riding 2 up unless I intend to be on the back and that's not in the equation.

Back ground:

She's a novice rider and I use to live on cr250s/raptors and a smaller Polaris 4x4 when I was younger but have spent the last 4 years building vehicles and fully engaged in long range precision shooting. Decided to come back to the atv world so we can do more expedition like riding together since she's not into shooting and wants to be a driver. I'm not building/maintaining 2 off road vehicles!

I've done some research and I'm going to go with a 650 xtp for her and either a 2015 1000 xtp or a 2016 1000/850 xtp for myself.

We are not into the deep deep mud. There will be water crossings. Plenty of steep hills and technical trails interest me the most. I like to think the hills I use to do don't look appealing anymore but I'm not sure I've got all of them out of my system either.

There seems to be way more regular length xtps on the used market compared to the max.

My question is: Do I want a max or a regular length outlander?

Tire size & weight

Basic questions on size and weight. After reading a few threads it sounds safe to increase size by 1" without any mods or rubbing issues. Has anyone experienced a decrease in performance from an increase in size? Or more specifically increase in weight from size or tire style (more plys or radial styles). 5 pounds per tire enough to justify a clutch kit?

FS: 2016 Palomino Palomini 177BH-ORV

After our 6th trip out in our little toy hauler (3rd trip getting totally rained out) my wife and I have decided we want to go up to something with a little more interior space for these trips where it's too cold and rainy to hang out outside under the awning. We bought the trailer brand new in May of 2016, took it on 6 trips between WV & PA. The unit is like new, still has the plastic on the mattress in the front, the only signs of use are the scuffs on the ramps from loading the ATV's. Asking $13k.

Unit has pretty much everything you would need, Fiberglass Shell, full bathroom, two bunks, 1 queen bed, dinette that converts to additional bed, propane furnace, 11,000btu low profile A/C, fridge/freezer, microwave, two burner stove, kitchen sink, exterior shower, Awning, 6 gallon hot water heater, LED lights, AM/FM bluetooth stereo with interior & exterior speakers, rear mounted RVQ BBQ grill, 15" wheels with offroad tires, 4000lbs UVW, 7400lb GVW very easily tow able with any half-ton & good WDH, I pull it with a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. 7'x9' Fits two full sized 4x4 ATV's. Will post pics of the interior when i can.

My name is Cody live in eastern NC. I got my 17 renegade 1k this past march and love it. So far I've done yoshi slip on , monster mayhem 30s rad kit and Bluetooth setup. And a winch. So far she's been a awesome machine.

2016 Polaris 450HO RVS tune vs power commander

Can anyone give an opinion between the two? The power commander is $100 cheaper and removable later. On an otherwise stock machine it seems just the ability for the throttle to fully open is a plus and I suppose either one could do that so for $100 cheaper it seems the power commander is the way to go. Any advantages to the RVS tune on an otherwise stock machine?

335 A arm bushings

I have a 99 Sportsman 335.

Found that the bushings are shot especially the outer top one in the rear and the shock bushings. Bought the JC Capri set and was installing and came up with 2 issues:

1. the inner bottom bushings do not go all the way to the frame mounts. There's probably a 3/16" gap at least. I don't remember if the stock ones had a gap or not. I do have both spacers in also and still have gap.

2. the bottom outer aluminum spacers that go in the bushings and mount into the bearing carrier seem to be worn a fair amount. I went to buy new ones on Polaris123 and they were $20 each, so I'm having a local guy make me a new set much cheaper. Is it normal for them to be worn? The bushings were not that bad.

I sure hope JC Capri bushings hold up better although the I think the quad has seen a lot of use and abuse before I got it. I don't know why I never noticed those being so worn before.

Snorkeling, what to do with vent lines?

Like the title says, I'm starting my plans for snorkeling and I've been doing some reading around in the forums and checking out pics and and write ups but it recently just hit me I don't ever remember seeing or really hearing what gets done if anything to all the vent lines?

Reliability of Polaris ATVs generally

Looking to buy a 2017 450 HO for plowing my drive this winter, but am hearing people say Polaris are badly made and unreliable. The competing dealers of course, but also on a shooters forum I visit.

With blade and winch it's $8000 (canadian) out the door.(Thats about $7000 before tax. Seems too good to miss, but I'm worried about what I hear about build quality and reliability.

I know this is a Polaris forum, so may be biased, but this seems such a good deal. Should I be scared off and buy a Yamaha for the extra $3000 ?
