Intermittent RPM’s

So I've been having/had this issue for some time now. Pretty much put it off, but since Winter is Coming, I feel the need to maybe fix it.

When I first bought my 08 sportsman 500 last year, I ended up changing the stator and voltage regulator among other things.

The issue is sometimes at idle the RPM's work fine. Other times it's just 0 unless I rev it up in which case the RPM's show up no problem, until I let off the throttle then it's back down to 0.

What controls the RPM's?

What could the issue be? Any assistance is much appreciated.

Towing a 3000 pound wood chipper

The towing capacity of a Commander 800 is 1500 pounds according to the specs.

Do you guys know or have any experience towing heavy objects? The object I am looking to tow around my property is a 3000 pound wood chipper trailer.

Obviously it's double the towing capacity stated by the Can-Am but I'm wondering if it's possible. I would rather tow my wood chipper with the Commander than my pickup around my property.

Strange fuel issue.

Hey everyone. Hoping I can get some help. So I'll start at the beginning. 2010 renegade 800r. Has 4600km recently at about 4000km had a fuel pump issue when I was out riding. I would crack the fuel cap and pressure would escape but as I cracked the cap the quad would die everytime until it built up a pound or so I'm guessing. Replaced the fuel pump seemed fine 50 psi fuel pressure the old one when tested came in at 38PSI. Two weeks after fuel pump replacement with the airtex pump had the fuel pump fuse blow 7.5 amp replaced with a 10 amp.... Been a few months lots of riding hundreds and hundreds of kms put on no issue...until today got down to half a tank thought I would crack the gas cap little pressure escaped and quad died stumbled and lost all rpm. Put cap on let pressure build up a little due to the factory can am check valve and ran fine. Got home cracked cap quad died. Put pressure tester in and read 50psi cap on or off went for a ride with it on couldn't get it to do it again. Stayed 50 psi ish entire time...now why in the hell do the few pounds from the hot gas fuming In the tank make it run or not....I could easily bypass the check valve and put a filter on the tank instead but it appears that it may leave me stranded If it can't build some pressure......at the end hear cant figure it out. Would appreciate any response. Thanks.

2017 Polaris Sportsman 1000xt owners

Planning on picking up a 2017 Sportsman 1000xt in the Copper-matt color scheme. I've never owned a Polaris before. I'm coming off of a 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650. I ended up with about 4000 miles on the unit with no issues. Just kept the basic stuff serviced. How is the new 2017 Sportsman 1000xt working out for you guys? Is it worth it? Thanks for the input.

Need help

I have 2002 700. New crank rods bearings piston cylinder seals gaskets and oil pump. I'm getting no oil at lifters. Please help

Thanks to everyone in this forum!

I picked up a Magnum 425 4x4 a week ago. It was in pieces and appeared to have been worked on by several different folks. I got it for free from a guy cuz he just wanted out of his garage to make room. I told him id take it cuz i needed the good used tires for another atv I have. It had no oil or oil filter (oil filter nipple was atleast taped up). Fuel lines were all kinds of different ways. Carb was off. No battery but did have new starter. Pull rope wouldnt pull. He and I both figured it was locked up. Well, with the help of this forum and a lil luck it only took 2 days to get an understanding of this machine and have it running very well. Ive used it for an hour each of the last five days in the morning to drive yearling cattle to feed bunks. I am currently running on a gravity fuel system because there was no fuel pump. I'll post some more things I've learned about this machine in a lil while. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here. Catch yall later, its supper time.

’08 500 Sportsman fuel pump

Hello all,

I'm a new member obviously, hoping for some advise or assistance as I attempt to replace it. My Polaris dealer wants $503 to change it out and that's before he knows whether or not the whole tank has to be changed as well?????

My question is, are the fuel pump units for sale on ebay any good as a replacement or not? Anyone ever try one?

Thanks for any help.

Overspray on plastics

Hi guys, I bought a 95 magnum , and the guy I got it from got silver overspray on the green plastics. I tried using acetone , but it's not working. So I guess I need some slow thinner, unless anyone has a better idea. Thanks in advance

850 Sportsman not charging

My 2015 sportsman 850 is not charging. Checked the rectifier/regulator using the diode check on the multimeter and got very similar readings for the 3 wires which points to it being serviceable. Does anyone know what my resistance readings should be for the 3 wires coming from the stator so I can test it?
