My First Trail Ride

I've patiently waited six months for today. I purchased my Can Am last December, and today I had an opportunity to ride it. My friends said they would go easy on me, but talk is cheap. They were very helpful, especially in the safety training. Turning around on a narrow trail in the mountains is dicy at best.

We saw beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery the whole ride. I enjoyed the sections below the tree line as opposed to the "alpine tundra" up high. We were over 12k feet up. The wildflower bloom is just starting. We saw no other riders on our 23 mile jaunt.

I had to cover very rocky trails, very narrow trails, very wet creek crossings, very steep drop offs, very steep descents, very snow blocked trails, and a sunburned nose. We were riding about 3 and a half hours. All part of "going easy on me". Great fun!

My Outlander performed admirable, no issues. The DPS electric steering is a must have. The Can Am suspension soaked up all those boulders. I did not skid over a rock on this trip. I used 4wd quite a bit. And you sure would not want to break down 10 miles up some mountain trail. I shall never ride alone in the mountains.

So another person gets hooked on the ATV hobby. My friends were riding Arctic Cat 700s. It is about the same size as my Can Am. Both brands did exactly what they were designed for.

Issue shifting in high altitude

Bought 2 new 2015 ATVs beginning of 2016 Polaris sportsman LE 1000. Love the motor power and Fox shocks.
From day one I have complained they do not shift from a dead stop, while riding at high altitude. Above 10K feet. You have to turn eng off, shift then back on. because at a dead stop eng RPMs continues to fluctuate from 1200 to 1800. Dealer has not been able to fix nor do they have any idea what to do. They say they have been in contact with Polaris but no answers. We have broken the shifter splines which they have replaced. They have tried to adjust clutch several times. Nothing added on after market. They say they tried to re-flash computer, did not help. happening to both machines. NEED HELP!!!!!! Has anyone else had this problem and did your dealer fix it? At this point dealer saying they don't know what to do. Im thinking about just selling and going with a different brand.

Hello everyone, our names are Leiann and Jim and we are from Peoria, Arizona. We love riding our Can Am Commander in the desert and through the Az. mountains. Have had it for almost a year now in October and have added quite a few items to the rig. Too many to mention. But with this heat we have to travel up north to ride.

Warranty Bulletin – Campaign #2017-0008: CAB Models – Air Infiltration in Cab

Hi All,

There is a new Warranty Bulletin, Campaign #2017-0008: CAB Models - Air Infiltration in Very Hot/Cold Temperatures.

This bulletin addresses the concerns in regards to openings in the front end of Defender vehicles that allowed air to infiltrate the cab.

2016 and 2017 model year Defender Cab models as well as models with the BRP rigid CAB enclosure sold as an accessory are subject to the bulletin. Please check with your dealer to see if your unit is affected.

Thanks,

Owen - BRPcare
