2006 Hawkeye won’t start

First time ATV owner, just inherited a 2006 Hawkeye. The key was lost so I bought a new ignition switch, I was also told it needed a battery and now that is brand new. I turn the key nothing on dash lights up, I hear no clicking, battery is fully charged, key is on, it is in run position and in neutral. I have only had it for a couple of days now and don't know too much about ATV's. Any suggestions where to start trouble shooting?

Tiger tail

Was wondering how many guys use there tiger tails compared to there winch? All the guys I ride with have both and we use the tiger tail about 95 percent of the time to pull stuck machines out. I wouldn’t ride with out one they are very useful and easy to use.

Bad fuel issue

Hey guys. I’ve got a 14 sportsman 570. I know that it got wet fuel in it because after i poured the gas in it and started having trouble, I found that my gas can that i used had a crack in it and had gotten rain water in it. once it started missing and I realized what I had done I drained the tank (multiple times) ran treatment through it, and changed the spark plug. The bike is still missing, backfiring, and doesn’t idle well. It will however run better once it gets opened up and running faster. I’m thinking either fuel pump or injector but was hoping someone on here would give me some input. I know that’s a hell of a first post but thanks for any response in advance!

1996 Sportsman 500 – Strut bearings – Grease or oil?

I'm having to repair a torn front CV boot this week on my 1996 Sportsman 500 so I'll need to remove the front hub and strut to get to the boot.

I know the wheel bearings don't use any grease since they are lubricated by the oil in the hub. What I'm not sure about are the two strut bearings. The manual does not mention anything about greasing the inner and outer strut bearing but places online said that the strut bearings need to be packed with grease.

So, my question is which is it? Do I need to grease the inner and outer strut bearings or not or are they lubricated by the oil in the hub? The only time the manual mentions any lubrication is when it says to fill the hub with the appropriate fluid.

Also, do I need to grease the Hillard clutch or is that provided by the oil in the hub?

4th of July ride CO

Camping area about 20 miles West of Saguache. There are plenty of good riding areas there. We only put 283 miles on the ATV's but that is our falts. We don't get riding until 10:00 am. We have been riding there for just about every 4th of July for over 20 years. Did not go South this year and get on top of Boot mountain. Mostly went North. If you look at a map of the area we camp along 41G which goes south off SH 114. There are thousands of miles to ride; just depending on how far you want to get from camp. The nice thing is you do not run into many other groups riding. We had to see less than than 5 other groups in all the riding we did. Camping you do not have others next to you: all dry camping. In fact, could not see another group in eyesight. The nice thing is it is ALL national forest area, and a few ranches. Very few.
Last year we did make it to the WAR MEMORIAL but did not stop. This year we did the 1/4 mile hike to view it. The first day we tried to get there we made a wrong turn and did not get there. Along the way we passed a sign to Spook city (a ghost city); we should have gone there since we were far to east to make the war memorial. And then we could have gone to Bananaza and Marchell Pass. The next day ride we did get to the War Memorial.
This year we did do the 1/4 mile walk/hike out to the hidden WAR memorial. It is well hiding and not advertised. The surprising thing no one had done damage to the memorial; this is why they try to keep is a secret.

Here is more about the Soldierstone War Memorial.

2010 sportsman 550 efi delayed start

I recently picked up a 2010 sportsman 550 efi. When I got it the owner said sometimes, which on "cold" starts is always, that it takes a second to crank over. I haven't found any info on this problem.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Here is a "cold" start up. Less then 24 hour's sitting.

After it it's warm some times I get a stutter at start up

One other issue is the I have a small leak in the front diff. It doesn't appear to be any of the seals. The best I can tell is somewhere near the bottom of the diff towards the front. I only found this after seeing a small oil spot on the garage floor.

Throttle At Start Up

Have a 2010 400HO Polaris ATV which is somewhat hard to start, turns over for 3 or 4 seconds before starting in any weather. But, once started, it will start immediately next time. Changed the spark plug, no change to startup. However, when I give the ATV the slightest throttle it will start immediately. Bike only has 850 miles.

Any ideas?

The owners manual clearly states no throttle when starting electronic ignition - what's the harm?

Thanks and I'm not overly mechanical.
