Was interested in seeing what kind of numbers folks have been getting off their machines? I am running 91 octane non ethanol fuel and plan to only run this fuel. If anyone has any experience and numbers, would be great
Ignition switch help please-2001 500 HO
I would like to know a few things about the 500 HO ignitions. My 2001 has a 2 position key switch and starts with the LH 3 position switch. off/ run (push up)/ off. My 2002 has a 3 position key switch. Off/ on/ start. Spring loaded to on and no LH start. The switch in the 01 has gone bad and I see 4110264 as the original switch. Superceded by 4012163. This seems to be the new switch number for both years and starting methods. Is this correct?

Questions about Defender X MR
Hey guys. As you know I am new here. I converted from Kawasaki and I love my defender!!! I do have questions about the machine though. First, Do I need to be worried about the reverse chain? I was shocked when I looked at the parts manual and saw it had a chain. I know the polaris guys have a time with their reverse chains. If they are a problem, what recommendation do you have to beef it up. Second, I am wanting to run some wires through my cage to the roof. I see at the top of the cage on the drivers side there is a hole there already. Is there a hole at the bottom of the cage behind the dash or something? How is everyone running their wires to the roof? Third, I have seen on youtube some guys are running 33" tires and say they didn't have to add a lift. Is this actually possible? Thanks for any answers you may have to my questions.

On-road tires, winter & summer
I plan to have a few road trips here and there when I am comfortable with the new machine. Not least for the getting to the government safety check when that comes around in a few years but also for other outings.
We (perhaps obviously...) have a legal requirement for EU approved road legal tires, and also for proper snow tires in the winter - ideally studded in my experience with other vehicles - and a summer relevant tire too. I am not a fan of all seasons if there is such a thing.
The surfaces for such trips are asphalt and hard pack and a tiny bit of gravel - probably mostly a 50/50 mix of the first two as I would be sticking to our rural back roads rather than the main roads. In the winter they may or may not be covered in all the various different depths and types of snow and ice. It can go down to -30C (-22F) coldest.
So I am after some recommendations please! I am after the right tools for the job because its worth it to be safe and legal.
