Testing the TPS sensor on its own?

I believe I have a bad TPS sensor in my newly acquired 09 sportsman 800 efi. I have a few new tps sensors coming in from China and I'm sure they are going to be garbage. I noticed someone local to me selling a throttle body with the sensor included but he wants over $100 for it. I'm reluctant but I would rather have a Polaris part then the ones I've order from China.
Is there a way to test it with a meter and a nine volt battery before I hand over the money?

Best cooler to strap to your racks?

I am interested to know if you've had success with a particular cooler strapped to your racks. Yesterday, the cooler we had strapped to the 570's racks broke apart. It was completely filled with ice and gatorades. After it broke, the bungees did little to keep it in place. It fell to the trail, spilling all of the ice. We called it a day at that point... it was too hot to continue without the benefit of cold drinks.

Anyway, I'm looking for a sturdy cooler. One that will hold up when filled, and take a bit of jarring while strapped to atv racks. I really need it to work... I do not want to spend big money and it end up breaking. Thanks for your input.

Hi to all. Very smart people here. Newfie here

Hi. I’m not having luck. I know this is a poliars site but I got a 92 bayou atv. Was out ridding and it shut off like I hit the kill switch. Wait 5 min and go agin. Doing that for a day and finally it quit and I check fire and no fire. Put a new CD I unit on and it never worked. Put a old cdi unit on and it ran fine for three days. Then agin the same. Then it lost fire agin and I took the new cdi unit and try it to see and it worked. Weird. But the bike starts and shuts off. Then starts and shuts off. Then if you hold the trottle a bit it will stay running. When it warms up it will idol fine until u put it in gear. Then it shuts off. But it will start right up agin. If you give it trottle while putting it in gear it will go and run fine as long as you don’t let idol. But some times like within 10 min it will just die like I hit the kill switch. But give it a little fuel and it will go agin and ride a few minents then it shuts off and start right up and gotta give it trottle to go when us put it in gear. Please please please help. I ordered new cdi agin and coil. What can this be cause it’s weird.

2014 sportsman transmission Problem?

2014 sportsman 570 camo edition. First problem was the atv won’t start, will crank and crank and not start. We’re getting ready to load on the trailer and realized it would not move.
The shifter moves easily, and the readout shows the right gear but it seems like it’s stuck in park. Transmission worked flawlessly when parked about a month ago. Any ideas?

Steering issue ?

So I'm not quite sure if I'm able to explain this properly but I'll give it a whirl. My wife and I went riding a couple of weeks ago. She's currently riding a 2012 850xp eps. We rode all day with no issues, on the way back to the trailer she hit a pretty big dip going fairly quick and since then she was complaining about the quad didn't feel right. At this point I switched with her and I rode the 850 and I found that you would feel every little rock or bump you went over. I would feel all this on steering/handle bars. I put the quad on the lift this weekend and I wasn't able to find anything broken and/or loose.

It's almost like I was riding on two flats (which I wasn't). Anybody ever experienced anything like this, could it possibly be the power steering box? any input would be greatly appreciated. I understand It will be kind of hard for anybody to pinpoint what the problem is but I've checked everything and I'm running out of options. I would hate to replace the power steering and still feel exactly the same after spending $1,000.

2016 sportsman check engine light

SPN code = 168
FMI code = 3

Runs rough at 1st start. Idles not so great. When I run it around the yard it seems to rev fine but if I let off the throttle and coast to a stop it dies. Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know what that error code means?

The manual says this --- Voltage Above Normal, Or Shorted To High Source 168 3

Just bought a high miles sportsman 570

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2014 Sportsman 570 with about 6700 miles on the original everything. The only known problem it had was a bad wheel bearing on the rear right side, it was a pretty easy fix. So far the machine starts right up, has good throttle response, doesn't make any weird noises, doesn't burn any oil or leak any fluids and generally seems pretty tight. I know the miles are high but the price was low and so was my budget. So my question is are there any known weak points in these machines? Anything that is the common first major repair that is needed? I have half a mind to just replace anything (within reason) that is known to be a weak link now before it goes. I am capable of rebuilding the whole engine but what I would like to do is fix any potential problems before that is necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Loud Clicking under load

Good Day,
I have 2016 Highlifter 850
I've noticed under load (Low Range, AWD mode), occasionally i will hear some loud clicking when pulling through some deep mud etc
Its a new machine to me, but has approx 600 miles on it. Other than that everything sounds normal.
Is this something that this front diff in this model of Polaris does?
Or perhaps an axle is starting to go?
Thanks
JP

Excessive Fuel Consumption 2005 Sportsman 400

I went out on a ride with my wife and son, after about 12 km in the bush I noticed I only had 1/2 of tank of gas left and I started with a full tank. I immediately headed for home.
What could be the cause of this?
I also noticed a breather hose sitting on the deck of my trailer, but I don't know from what machine it came from.
I pulled the belt housing off and it was extremely dirty with black dust, could a bad belt cause the fuel issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

EFI and check engine light came on

After a heavy rain where were riding. I started My ATV up and it sputtered a little no big deal. After riding it a bit the Red EFI light and check engine light came on. So I parked it for the night. The next morning when I started it no sputter so I road it for a good 30 minutes and no lights came on and road fine. Has this ever happened to anyone else and should I be concerned.
