Multiple and strange electrical problems

Hi there folks! I ve got an ‘15 XXC with about 200hrs with some electrical issues which i am trying to solve.
I will describe the behaviour and you’ll decide if there are related with each others or not.

1. the headlights are not running in either ingnition position (the rear lights are fine, same the front center small light bulb). Also the hi beam indicator in the dash looks dead.

2. Winch not running, same the cigarette lighter socket.

3. And the most recent - check engine light on while running and simultaneously the 4wd cannot be operated BUT this ONLY in the 1st ignition position. If i turn the key to the last one, the ck engine light turns off and the 4wd can be operated flawlessly.

Another one problem recently discovered is the left handlebar controls- headlight beam switch, while i was trying to identify the p-code error, but nothing happens.

Any advice would be useful!

New to Can Am

Hello everyone I’m new to Can Am and to site I just picked up my new 2018 outlander xt 650 yesterday. I’m getting her ready to handle the winter chores around the house ( plowing hauling wood). I can’t wait to get on the trails she’s a little dirty from the ride home.

Split charge relay options for 1000R?

I have a 2019 outty I am building for this years events.
I run a huge winch and so need a large battery for when I need to winch.

I do not want replies telling me what winch I need or what battery I need or that its impossible. Nothing is impossible with great minds on this forum. I know the bike will not put out enough to keep it fully charged while I am using the winch, that is why I am opting for a second battery for the short periods of winch use and to keep the bikes power seperate to the winch supply.

The battery I run is an odyssey PC950 and I would need to winch for around 30 seconds at a time. The rest of the time will be riding of a good 1-2hrs before I need to use it again so should be just about enough time to recharge all depending on what rate the bike gives out its power.

Does anyone know the output of a 2019 1000R alternator/generator? I am trying to work out if a simple relay or a voltage sensing relay is better for me and what amp relay/vsr I should be getting. :grin

03 trailboss 330 charging issue

Hey everyone new to the forum been searching around to find the answer to my question but can’t seem to find it so I have a 2003 Polaris trailboss 330 and The battery keeps going dead on it. It’s a new battery and 4 wheeler has ran great for the time we have had it. So after looking around I think I have a voltage regulator issue to where it’s not charging the battery like it should. Since I have owned it the fan hasn’t worked either which I have since wired into a switch so I can control when it is on and off. From my search it looks like the voltage regulator and fan control is inside the ecm so I would need a new ecm. That being said with the fan wired to a switch is there anything else the ecm controls and could I wire in a voltage regulator instead of spending $200-$300 on a new ecm? I’ve found voltage regulators for similar atvs on amazon for $25 so I’m wondering if the ecm only controls those two functions would it hurt anything to remove it and install the cheaper voltage regulator. Let me know what you guys think and thanks for any future help.

Tried to find info on this but couldn’t

Could someone please let me know what the pourpose of these brackets are? I've tried to look it up but could not find an explanation. It looks like it's a guide to slide attachments on but not sure what attachments. Thanks in advance. Again, really new to this stuff so try and take it easy on me lol.

Front Diff cover and pinion gear fubar

I was out in the snow today pulling my kids on a sled. I heard a distinct crack from the front end. (Note was in AWD) I got off to look and see if i hit something. Well nothing hit but fluid pouring from my broken diff cover. My pinion gear was still inside the gear case so I limped it back to my garage. I removed the two bolts not holding anything lower two. I then removed the upper two that still was holding my pinion gear in place. I removed the crush pin and removed drive shaft. Now I was able to remove the pinion gear. I observed two teeth chipped up. I checked the ring gear and it looked ok. Well this is where I get pissed. I purchased this quad with 148miles on it from a Polaris Rep. Never titled till I purchased it. Its a 2017 Sportman Xp1000 decked out by rep. Winch, plow, led lights after market wheels and tires brush gaurds rear cargo system. I mean awesome quad. Ive maybe put 300 miles on it mainly deer season and deer scouting. No riding adventures never buried in mud nothing. Wife and kids prob put half the miles on it doing yard work.

Well I figured id get online and order some parts. Ie: cover and pinion gear. Well billet covers are everywhere. As for the pinion gear thats a big fat your screwed by polaris. I called two local dealerships they quoted me 664$ for entire new diff unit. When I pull up the diff parts cache it clearly shows all parts labeled individually. Actually the pinion gear is #14. When I question every shop or online source. They just say I gotta order entire gear box unit.

Im to this point. Order a new billet cover put chipped pinion gear back in and let it ride. Why not if I have to buy complete assembly if it breaks oh well at least ill have a new billet cover.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. I turned to this forum when I initially started researching my atvs failure.
