Electrical System Question

SO last night was the first time I got to plow at night with my '18 570. Aside from my starting issues I posted in another thread, I noticed something with the brightness of the headlights. I am use to the headlights dimming when you add a strain to the electrical system, such as using the winch. Or the lights getting a tad brighter when you are at a higher RPM vs. at idle..., That's what I expected...

But my lights would go from bright to not so bright or visa versa at odd times. (I don't want to say dim because they never seemed dim, just less bright and more bright) This would happen at various times. Sometimes while plowing at higher RPM in a straight line. So the RPM's were about held at 4000 during the time when they would go from not so bright to bright. Then they would go from bright to not so bright on the next pass, while still at higher RPM. Even sitting idle talking to my neighbor, we both noticed them go from not so bright to bright..

is this normal? Sign of something going in my electrical system? Regulator? Could it be related to the starting issues?

On a side note, when I do use my winch (up and down) the dash lights go out for a second... Is this normal? I just replaced my battery with a brand new AGM battery as well hoping it would help.

Thanks

Baby it’s cold outside….

Frigid here in central Minnesota this morning.... the Suburban said it was -28°F (-33°C) this morning at 7:00 AM. The 'ol weather forecast is predicting -34°F as a low at 8:00 AM (day break/sun rise) today, with a high of -21°F. Add in wind chills and they claim it "Feels Like" a nippy -53°F outside.... BURRRRRRRR!!!

What are temps like where you're at.... please make me jealous!

Let’s see those lighting upgrades!

Hey all! Thought I'd start a thread about lighting upgrades. I've noticed the lights on these 1000 XP really seem to draw a bunch of power - I was surprised to see a 20amp fuse for the lights. I decided to swap all my bulbs out for LEDS, and I plan on adding a 12" LED light bar in my front bumper, and a rear light as a work light/reverse light.

I noticed the tail lights act really weird, the brake lights are fine but I can't seem to get running lights to work with LED. I'll need to do a little more research.

Let's see your lighting setups, and share your plans!

Advice on starting point

Morning folks,

Hello from Indiana where it is currently -37 degrees lol. Anyhow, heres the story, I bought a used 2000 polaris Trail Boss 325 for next to nothing. Prior owner had not started this thing for nearly 9 years and wasn't sure what was wrong with it. Once I got it home and started breaking it down, I had found there was a broken spark plug in the coil wire and the carb was as gummed up as humanly possible. I have now ordered a replacement carb for it along with a new plug. Now if you see anywhere I have made a mistake or had the wrong thinking please so advise. I put the new plug in it and tried to pull start it as it has compression along with oil in it to see if I had spark, I tried to arc it on the front rack of the machine with zero spark. My question, would I get spark off of the rack or would it have to be arced to the motor? Secondly, I have taken the old battery out of it because there was a hole in it along with the top caps being broken off, would it need to atleast have a battery in it or anything to have a spark to complete a circuit or anything? Also, where would one start in trying to figure out if it is in fact getting no spark, somehow testing the coil or the stator or cdi, I just dont wanna start throwing money at this, I have no issues changing the things that I visually can see that are bad but I don't wanna just be spitting and guessing either. I did hook my jump box up to the battery cables and the lights did come on along with the electric starter turning over but I got no spark that way either on the front rack. Please advise and thank you in advance. I cannot figure out how to post pictures in this, so if yall can help me out with that as well, it would be much appreciated.

polaris sportsman 500 axles length

hey guys, so i have a sportsman 500 that id like to lift. im building my own lift kit for it and im having troubles building these axles.
i have found some rzr xp 900 axles that will find my spline pattern for the rear and all four hubs, but im converting the ujoints to cv joints for obvious reasons
my question is can i pull the rzr xp 900 axles out of the cv joint and put them in the new cv that will fit my bike? the cv joints are males and i need females
are the splines on the shaft the same?

Where to mount a rear work light

Hi Folks,

I just bought my first ATV, a 2018 Sportsman 450 HO, and I'm in the process of fixing adding changing things that I think the machine needs.

The current issue is that I've got a 4" LED that I'd like to mount as a work light off the back of the machine. The only obvious place that I see is to put a clamp around the sway bar and stick it there... I'm thinking that someone must have come up with a more creative way/place to install a small 4" Cube led....

Any thoughts? Pictures appreciated.
