2000 Sportsman 500 Transmission

The photo is of the transmission that came out of my 2000 Sportsman 500. It was replaced with a new (used) trans. The case cover (not pictured) has a couple of holes bashed into it from (I assume) an axle that came loose and slammed into it a few hundred times as the rider kept driving with axle loose. I have a new case cover, and would like to go through the trans, make sure there’s nothing else wrong, and put it back together for a spare. I already removed the chain tensioner.

All of the YouTube video’s I’ve found about disassembling this trans, show a center gear with 4 holes in it that you use to remove 4 torx bolts, which then allows that gear to come out. As you can see from the pic, the gear in this one is solid. Has anyone every torn down this model of trans? If so, what comes out first, and what holds that solid middle gear in if it’s not 4 bolts underneath it like the ones I’ve seen in the videos. Also, have you ever seen a YouTube video on how to tear down THIS model of transmission?

Which Battery To Use

I have a 2006 Polaris 500 EFI. I am assuming HO. Battery is "toast." It says 30 lb on the side. However, online (Amazon ) seller says his 14ah-bs will fit. Seller sold battery AD saying it will fit 500 HO. My manual says 30lb is required for the 500 EFI and 500 carburator model requires 14ah.
Should I swap out battery with seller for 30lb model?

Defender air intake

Hi, I'm new to here. Just wondering what type of terrain you guys gals ride in and if you have had any problems with air intake?

Want bad/burnt LR60, LR62 Relays – for experiment

Looking to buy fried, bad, burnt out temp sensor relays and thermistor (that goes into Oil cooler).
I am experimenting with repairing them and possibly making better.
These were used on the 335 and 325 Units, to control the fan and temp lights.
I have PayPal and would like to get a few soon.
Thanks

2013 Sportsman 500 help!!!

Machine was getting hard to shift now wont shift at all, stuck in 2H and ATV will not move at all now. Removed plate where linkage goes in, looks fine. No buildup of any sort. Removed belt cover; primary clutch spins, secondary does not. Try giving it gas and will not spin secondary clutch, but it's trying. Tires don't spin freely either. Any suggestions to try before I end up dissasmebling the bike. Thanks!!

Key question

Is key/ecu recognition issue common. Dealer tells me that they dont lose programming. Is there a way to test this without a trip to the dealer. Was told 2006 does not have dess/wrong key message on cluster. Also was told 06 dess system also cannot be turned off like new models. This is quickly turning me off of bombardier products.

Newbie Here, Pleased to meet you all.

Hey guys, Jay from Indiana here. Just joined the forum and look forward to the great discussion and wealth of knowledge you all seem to possess and share. I just recently bought a barn find, hoping that it turns out well. I purchased a 2000 Trail Boss 325 for pennies and from what it appears, it is all intact and appears to be rather decent given her age. It has been sitting since 2008, as it was parked when the rider went through a divorce and hasn't been rode or started since. I put air in the tires and everything seemed to roll ok. I intend on doing a complete fuel system (Draining and cleaning tank, deep carb cleaning and replacing the fuel lines and fuel pump), changing out the plug and air filter and hopefully she will fire and diagnosing from that point. Any advice or tips would be gladly appreciated. If anyone knows where I can come across a PDF of the complete shop manual for free let me know. Please disregard the wifes Tupperware box!!!!

Cheers:grin
