So I have a question on the cooling fan on the 97 Xplorer 400. How hot does it have to get before the fan kicks on? Mine does not seem to kick on at all, yet it doesn't seem to over heat either. How can i test to make sure it's even working properly?
Hey everyone I am new to the Polaris machines and just trying to connect to a group. I have always been a Honda or Kawasaki guy. However i came across a great deal (So I thought) on a Polaris Xplorer 400 and couldn't pass it up. I have already done a lot of work to it like general maintenance stuff (Shocks, Brakes, etc...) but i have a laundry list of other stuff needing to get done. I will be looking through the forums looking for help on some of the stuff. My to do list is below. Let me know if there is anything else special you would do after buying a used one.
All console lights not working (Temp, Neutral, etc)
4 wheel drive light not working (4wd works but the light doesn't come on)
Speedo not working
No rear lights
Popping noise in the front end
I'm looking for some recommendations on good places to ride in Deep Creek, MD. Also, any good hotels to stay in that would be close to the trails?
My wife and I are looking to take a long weekend trip to somewhere we haven't ridden before. She's not too keen on camping or staying in a cabin, so I will compromise and stay in a hotel.
Im needing to replace my outer rear cv boot right side [sitting on machine] my question is how do I pull the axel? I thought it would come apart like the front but nooo am I missing something or is it really stuck in the diff. I just didn't want to break another part. Thanks Guys.
So one the tabs that hold the high beam in place broke off, so I need to buy a new lower for the pod but there are 3 different options and I don't know what the difference is between them.
This is my first post here, and it's because I have been contemplating purchasing a pair of 570 EPS units for my wife and self. This will only be for recreation, and very little mud (although I will purchase a Viper winch for my machine).
I had a Scrambler in 01, and occasionally rent. I have decided on the Sportsman 570 as it has the best value in suspension, storage, and parts prices vs other machines.
Now that being said, One of the things I have found is some dealers have some 2018's available. The only difference besides color, is the boasting of a new high output power steering. If I go into the part numbers for the steering, I don't see a different part number between the 2018 vs 2019 model years.
The other thing-When does Polaris release the new models? I think it's right around the corner (and therefore, possible better rebates!),
So I put a headlight wiring kit from LMC Truck on my '96 Cherokee that circumvents the normal wiring and runs the headlights directly off the battery by way of a relay. The kit runs the lights at 55/100 (low, hi) watts instead of the original 55/60. One reason I did this was because the light output was terrible, and the other was because for some unknown reason the headlights would shut off after being on hi for a bit. Never did this on low. I've had the new wiring kit on for a few years now and it seems to have solved the issue.
The problem I'm having now though is that this new harness is melting at one of the connections...
You can see only one of the wires is overheating while the other seems to be ok. I'm guessing the hot one is used by the high beams.
What could be causing this? Could it be related to why the high beams used to shut off before I replaced the wiring harness? A while back I asked about the shutting off issue on a number of Jeep boards but nobody had heard of this particular problem before.
