03 Rincon 650 valves

Picked up a 03 rincon 650 (I’m mainly a can am guy) that needs valve adjustment. And ideas on how long time wise it should take a qualified tech to do it? I’m just pricing shops....I have a few guys in mind and want to have an idea on how long it should take prior to getting a quote so I don’t get hosed.

Seat wet – how to dry – dry weight

I bought a 2015 Sportsman 570 SP and it was stored in a shed. A few days after having it I found a smelly mouse nest in the seat. I spent 30min shaking the seat, vacuuming, and blowing compressed air through the two holes in the bottom, but it still wasn't all coming out. I decided to use a garden hose and soap. That seems to have done the trick, but now of course my seat is water logged and I need to dry it out.

I've read that for most seats like this you have to take the seat apart and squish the foam between two pieces of plywood and then put it back together. I'm hoping the foam is different on this one. I propped up the seat for a few hours to let it drain and weighed it on my shipping scale, 16lbs 1oz. I propped it against a fan overnight and it weighs 15lb 1oz.

Can someone weigh their dry seat? I'd like to know when it's fully dry. It feels pretty dry but also heavier than I thought. I don't want to take it ice fishing and have it freeze solid. I should have weighed my before adding water.

Thanks in advance.

Need Help

So this isn't a bad issue per say. But i need help picking something for my quad. Purchased momma bear a new puppy (picking it up today) for xmas to replace her female bulldog that passed away this summer. Due to that i now have a kind of blank check for accessory purchase for the outlander. However i can not decided what i want..

Thought heated grips, but at this time we don't do too much cold weather riding, and i do not have a plow on it at this time.

Thought a plow, but i do not have a place to store it with the plow attached. (currently stored/winterized inside our toy hauler. No garage).

Bike only has 188.x miles on it, so it doesn't need tires, and i like the painted black rims.

I want it to be orderable through my can-am dealership because i get 10% discount on any parts or accessories, AND i have a $50 gift card (to anywhere) card to burn on top of it.

Keep in mind we do mild trail riding, and it's used for hunting. Thought about the fender flares, but are they worth it?

Want to keep the price reasonable (no tracks).. so please.. HELP! lol

New here…

Just bought my first ATV. 2013 Can Am Outlander Max. I don't know much about these things, so I figured I would do what I always do, join a forum.

I'm in Upstate NY and looking forward to some winter riding.

Thanks for having me here!

Exhaust pipe popping off engine.

98 Xplorer 300:

Every now and then the exhaust pipe slightly pops off the exhaust manifold. I'm talking about the beveled piece that makes a 180 degree bend coming off the engine held against the engine with a spring on each side of the pipe. It's not hard to get it back on. I can either grab the pipe and give it a slight push and it pops right back on or if the engine is hot, I can hit it with the end of a ratchet or a stick.

The main reason this is a problem is when the pipe pops off the engine, it creates a lean mixture (because of no exhaust valve being a 2 stroke), sucks air back into the engine and creates too lean of a mixture for the engine to start. It doesn't actually pop all the way off, just enough to cause starting problems.

This is seems to occur not while actually riding but rather when I shut the engine off. I've had this happen multiple times it's starting to get annoying. So when I go and start the engine and it doesn't want to start, I end up flooding it not realizing what has happened. If the engine happens to backfire, then I immediately know the problem.

One time I pulled it onto my trailer to go riding. I get to my destination and the bike wouldn't start. I was like, "Well Snap!". I pulled the plug, turned the engine over, sprayed some starter fluid into the carburetor and the engine backfired :eek . I hit the pipe with the end of a ratchet handle and next time I crank, the engine fires right up.

The last time this happened was the other day, I had the bike parked in a storage building behind my garage. I tried to start it and eventually it backfired and I knew what the problem was.

There was this one occasion it seemed this pipe did pop off while riding. I noticed the engine got much louder and when I stopped, the engine stalled. A quick look showed that the pipe had popped off.

What's the cause and what's the fix? Have the springs lost their tension and they need to be replaced with new ones?

One fix might be to run a piece of wire through the springs and twist the ends together.

Electrical issue.

Hello. I need some advice. My machine suddenly started draining her battery after I shut her down.
On my screen it says"over v" and runs numbers I assume are voltage readings.
My screen flashes if I rev it up but when I let her idle, no flashing screen and things look normal. It always idles and revs up just fine.
I called dealer and first thing he said was voltage regulator. I ordered new battery and regulator installed both and the quad still has the same problem. Of course my warranty ran out just before the problem started I do have aftermarket lights hooked up to the battery but other than that everything stock.
I ran into some of the issues on other
forums 1000 XP 1000 side-by-side having a faulty regulator I ordered it upgraded one and like I said the same problem. Has anybody else had this issue?

My new-to-me Polaris – time for an oil change!

Just picked up a beautiful new 2000 Trail Boss 325 - I love this ATV! Time to give it some TLC. I'm sure this has been beat to death on this forum, but I'm new to it. Polaris is kind of vague about what weight to use, my local quad guy says any weight you want, doesn't recommend synths for older quads that haven't been using them before. Since I don't know this machine's history, I'll probably just use a quality dino oil. It's not going to get ridden real hard, and it shouldn't see any real temperature extremes. What do you all recommend for oil weights on this guy? I picked up a K&N oil filter, a good choice? Thanks in advance for any advice.

1/4″ breather tube at the bottom of engine

Hi there. I have a 2006 sportsman 500HO. Am I to assume that the little 1/4" tube on the bottom of the engine beside the drain plug is a crank breather? I moved my quad out of the garage the other day and found about a cup of oil all over the garage floor. after investigating found that when I shut my quad off after riding the oil drains down this tube. happens all the time and at different oil levels in the oil tank so the oil isn't overfull. any other things that may contribute to this happening? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
