2004 Sportsman 500 Electrical power loss

I have a 2004 Sportsman 500 HO. It was manufactured in 2003. While the machine is running, you lose all electrical power. No power to the lights, winch, or speedo cluster. I’ve recently replaced the fan due to it being burnt out. While doing that it was found that the radiator thermal switch wires were broken/shorting, so new thermal switch installed. Then I was getting a battery light that would flash. Machine has new battery, and I found I was getting an over Voltage to the battery due to a bad voltage regulator (rectifier). That has been replaced, and no more over voltages. The one problem that remains is losing all electrical power. The machine keeps running when it happens. When electrical power is lost, if you turn off the ignition, you can’t restart the machine. Power usually comes back on its own within 40 sec to 1 minute. I’ve taken all the wire loom off and inspected all wires from the handle bars down through the head light pod into the hood area. No broken/chaffed wires found. Is there something I’m overlooking? Something I haven’t checked? Breakers in the bags? Is the speedo unit getting ready to take a dump? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fox Racing hoodies, tees, and hats are up to half off

Had to share this one, folks! We know the holidays are around the corner, and if there are fellow MX and ATV enthusiasts on the holiday shopping list this is a great way to make them happy on a budget. There are tees on the list for less than $14, Hoodies for as low as $25-30, cheap hats, and other smart buys.

Input requested for first-time buyer, land-maintenance needs

Hi All, am new to the forum, and would greatly appreciate your knowledge and guidance for the following.

Am purchasing some country acreage for future retirement home building purposes (10-15 years from now), and am thinking an ATV is my best option for affordable land maintenance tasks. I just cannot justify spending $20-25,000 for a good tractor setup, for mostly just mowing, or paying someone for years to brush mow with their tractor.
Will be using the ATV to tow a (most-likely a DR Power brand) 52" brush mower, tow weed sprayer, trailer for tree maintenance / dirt / rocks cleanup, etc. The property is 25 acres, so much larger than what a riding mower could do.

The ATV simply won't be used barely 5-10% of the time, for getting out in woods, trails, etc.
Am looking at getting a used late-model Sportsman 570, or possibly a 450 HO. What do folks recommend?
(No, I don't think a UTV is the best item for me here, due to costs, and that I also am getting 10 acres of woods, that I'll be sporadically doing the noted 5-10% of maintenance through there) (using the Tow mower, I want to be able to turn around and monitor how it's running, the lines, etc (and there's a cable that runs to the ATV, to electronically adjust the mowing deck height, and a UTV would seat me too far forward))

Am confident that I'm going with a Polaris ATV, but all the Honda fan-boys from YouTube videos I've watched, sure do rag on the Polaris... Wow, seriously, some big-time haters out there!
I caught the 'reliability' Vote thread here on the site, and though there aren't a huge amount of reply votes there, it sure does seem that the Polaris products are good enough for what I need, and should last for years!

Thank you for your assistance in this pursuit, it is truly appreciated!

Relieve Fuel Pressure – 2006 Sportsman 500 EFI

I have a 2006 Sportman 500 EFI and cannot find a way to relieve the fuel pressure.
Fuel Tank Parts List (photo-see below) shows that the valve should be on fuel line # 17, but it is NOT on my fuel line.
Fuel Injection Parts List shows no valve on Fuel Rail. My fuel rail does not have a valve.
I have the service manual which refers to relieving system pressure through the test valve in the fuel rail. ( Which is obviously not correct )
Any help would be appreciated.

Best snow plow kit?

Hi all! I am a new member in need of some recommendations for a snow plow kit. I have a 2009 Polaris Sportsman 500 and would like to attach a snow plow to it. I know that Polaris makes a kit and I believe Kolpin makes one as well. I also intend to put a winch on the machine. Can anyone recommend a good plow system? Thanks. Tony

Polaris Predator 90 03 Roller weights?

Hi,

Can someone confirm what exact parts do I need to buy if I want to change so-called clutch weight rollers?

At the moment I believe I need 6 pieces of 0450229 or 0455003.
https://www.partzilla.com/product/polaris/0455003

is there 6 pieces in one package or is 1 roller 6,29$?

I also found topics where people says "replace spring too". Is it part number 4 from this picture:
https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...b/drive-pulley

..or are we talking about something else.
