New 570

Hi, everyone hope all is well on your end :). I going to pick up a 2019 Ranger 570 here after bit. It will be my first Polaris i had a Rhino for 12 years. I still have it but its breaking down and is broke down now. Im not knocking it. But i'm excited to get a new ride. Im getting the base model and i wanted small because of my trails. I just use it for hunting and keeping up with the property.

Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.

Sportsman 500 schematic, what is this item?

Two pics, first shows the item I want to know what are the two the square box figures center lower with wires entering called. Is it a junction plug connector?

Regarding the AWD, question about testing operation

If the AWD switch is on and AWD light is on and it is verified sending power to the coils.
If you jack up the front wheels and try to spin the wheels backwards, will the hubs grab the shafts?

I was thinking it ought to, seeing the magnet grabs the armature plate and spinning wheels backwards generates that drag on the armature plate.

And I suppose AWD should work also in forward motion, front wheels spun to go forwards.

2001 Sportman 500 Starter Bendix Gear Locking Up

The starter is locking / freezing when i attempt to start my ATV. I replaced the Bendix gear assembly thinking this was the problem. I'm experiencing the same problem with the new bendix gear assembly. Upon further inspection, there appears to be excessive play between inner bendix gear shaft and the inside case bushing. How difficult is it to remove / replace the bushing?. It looks to be a bronze/brass like material which i could easily drill and use a pin punch at an angle to collapse. The ring gear and other components are in good shape. Unit has less than 300 hrs total on it.

What else should I look at?

I may run without the starter (temporarily) but starting it with the pull cord is a PITA.

2001 Sportman 500 Tranny Case Drain Plug Stripped

Hi all

The threads out came with the drain plug upon removal from the trans on my 2001 Sportman 500. What experience do folks have with Timesert, helicoil inserts vs simply tapping to the next size. Thinking the PO used some kind of thread lock.

Thread size is 3/16-18. The case is thin and because of that I'm reluctant to use a Time-Sert or heli coil as the insert is quite a bit longer than case thickness. Thanks in advance.

ECU Re-flash Settings

I am considering getting my ECU reflashed and was wondering what other people have been choosing for settings with regards to fan on and off with coolant temperature. I ride mostly hard pack trails, tend to shy away from mud, and just want the quad to run cooler. Also, when they reflash are they able to set it so the machine runs a little richer to cool it down as well? I have already added a fan switch but would like the machine to run richer anyways.
