2007 Can Am 650 XT

New to Can Am Forums. I have been a Yamaha and Honda machine guy for some time - i have an opportunity to grab a 2007 Outlander 650 HO XT for a very attractive price. Has 900 miles on it and around 100 hours. Appears to be in mint condition. Is there anything i need to know about this machine before i pull the plug and buy it? It has never seen mud, used mostly for plowing and light hauling around a friend on mines property. Any and all help or input is deeply appreciated. CHEERS

2001 DS 650 rider

So it's time to do another rebuild. I've owned the quad since 2005. The first rebuild I just changed the rings and gaskets. This time I'm getting the cylinder replated, adding a high comp piston and possibly getting valve work and porting. It's stock except for the exhaust cap, jetting, airbox lid mod and big gun cdi. Can anyone point me to the right area of the forum that specializes in the DS 650? I have a few questions on changes and upgrades I'd like to do this time around. By the way, I love the quad. It's always been a blast. Even when I made a huge jump and had to get 10 staples in each knee from hitting the bars. Don't drink and ride. There is such a thing as too much fun. My favorite thing to do is massive drifting donuts in the field and blasting by and quad I want and watching them frown. My wife has an LTZ 400 which is pretty quick in it's own right. It is just too small for me. Riding the DS is like riding the Cadillac of sport quads. I'm also a fan of 2 stroke dirt bikes.

2019 Sportsman X2 ATV – Versatrac ? yes or no?

The polaris web site does not say that the new 2019 570 X2 ATV has Versatrac, aka Turf mode, aka real differential.

But my dealer says the 2019 X2 DOES HAVE versatrac.

So what is the truth? (If they do have it, any reason why they wouldn't list it as a feature?)

cyl misfire and coolant in the plug well

My '11 Crown vic with 270k miles suddenly started running rough mostly at the lower end of the gears. By the time you got into o/d the whole car shook. Scan tool gives me P0307 cyl 7 misfire, and P0316 misfire upon startup. So I pull the coil on 7 to find a pool of burnt smelling coolant about 2" deep. Siphoned and blew it out and removed the plug to find it's electrodes fouled with a thin coat of something shiny and black. Rubbed off without much effort. The plugs are about 4 weeks and 1500 miles old. Pulled cyl 6 coil right next to it and found a lot of white particles about half the size of rice stuck to the sides of the plug well walls. Seemed odd as I'd just blown out all the plug wells a month ago. Blew it out again and removed the plug to reveal electrodes that were coated slightly white. This plug had a ring of a black just south of the hex part. Looked like darkened sort of coagulated oil. Wiped off easily.

The car drives much better now after blowing the antifreeze out of the plug well but the miss is still there. So glad as this might buy me some time to get this figured out.

I'm not even sure how it's possible for coolant to get in a plug well. Any ideas, head gasket maybe? What's my next step in investigating?

Picked up 2002 Xplorer 400 that needs a lot of TLC

I just picked up a farm fresh (dairy farm fresh) 02 Xplorer 400. The bike was still covered in cow droppings.... It was advertised with a blown head gasket. I'm a 2 stroke dirt bike guy (KTM) so this quad was something in my wheel house... I've fixed many a stroker, but I prefer a smoker....

So far I've hosed the cow droppings / mud off the bike... It's very complete... The only alteration I can find so far is the fan as been wired to stay on all the time. Knowing the issues with the head, and leaking of coolant into the cylinder, I did not try to start the bike. I did check compression via the pull start which was fine. Spark seems weak or non-existent.

Plans are 1st a new top end. I think its on the original piston, so I'll order the parts after I open the top end to measure the bore and make sure all is well with the cylinder. Tires are not great but can wait... needs a new battery, I'll replace the brakes, all fluids. Plans are for a winch, I'll fab a winch mount out of material I have lying around. When messing with the coil, I can feel spark a slight jolt when holding the spark plug wire, but it's not getting spark. I think it has a bad boot... I'll pick up a new coil while I test all the electrical systems.

1st question... I'm pulling the front plastic off... how the hell do you get it off the bike... It's loose, but I cannot get it over the headlight bezel and handle bars. Do I need to remove the headlight bezel? I have the front plastic loose, and the gas tank removed, but I'm not sure as to how to remove the front plastic.

Any and all help is appreciated. Yes I do have a repair manual, although I've not opened it yet...

2011 500 HO Cold Stall at idle … fine when warm

Howdy folks: Couple of problems, not sure if there related, heres the list ...:grin; :|?

Re: 2011 SpM 500 HO throttle stall at cold idle ... fine when warm after 2 minutes of idling, problem with that is it fills the garage with gas fumes; has anyone had this problem? This is parked stored for the winter now in a garage in remote location; so don't have quick access ... but would like to figure this out before I go the next time in the snow.

Bought last year; been trying to tune the bugs out, having some troubles pin pointing the issue with the 500 HO; until warmed up; it stalls with throttle when not warmed up; ... after warmed up seems to work fine ... this may have been answered here but haven't seen a post. Pls refer to post if you've seen a post like this.

Had leaky carb issue; installed new aftermarket carb (found one for $40!; and bought kit); fixed leaky carb issue;
seems to be a little hard to start; when starts ok without any choke; it operated the same with both carbs; just original leaked (so not a carb issue ...?)

Have take slack out of the throttle cable so the electronic override auto kill should not effect the throttle.

add choke when running, stalls ...why?! (ie too much fuel stalls ...) does not change idle; just stalls; adjustment needed?

Changed air filter; no effect.

Engine seem to be "rattle-y" too with throttle; belt issue? Seems to grab on engagement ... engine mounts warn? This is probably unrelated issues to cold throttle stall ...

Changed reservoir oil, proper synthetic 5W 50; looked clean before change; but just for piece of mind; some fine debris in oil tank...

Haven't changed fuel filter?; could it be that?

too much fuel on the main low idle carb screw? ... lightly seated screw and adjusted 2 turns out ...

Also notice a little fogginess on the inside of the gauge lens when warmed up; should I be concerned is there a way to seal it or dry it out?

Cheers BC Dave

SOS need help

I have an 03 pred 500 I traded my trail boss 325 for this quad. The guy I traded said it didn’t have spark and he never had time to work on it well I’m guessing he let it sit outside for a pretty long time cause these was a rats nest in air box carb was frozen solid and rusted to hell and he left the spark plug out when he let it sit so I’ve replaced carb and cleaned air box got new coil for it and spark plug but it’s still getting any spark I need help in a bad way as I’ve owned this quad for quiet some time now and I’m firing to finally have it running but what it does is just sit and crank and crank but nothing it doesn’t even sound like it wants to turn over. Does anyone have any ideas?
