sportsman 500 bypass ebs

2000 sportsman 500 carb with ebs.

dont need or want the ebs.

To bypass could i:
1. get a non ebs belt?
Or
2. Could i add washers inside of the secondary to open it up to loosen belt tension of the current ebs belt? Current ebs belt rides approx 1/4” above secondary, tight belt tension.

would either of these elimate the function of the ebs or do i need to get a non ebs drive clutch?

07 sportsman rear axle seperated from CV cup

While trying to remove the axle assy from rear differential, it separated inside the inner boot. I'm hoping that it is designed to do this.... am I right? Will it go back together or will I need to replace it?

97 sportsman 500 rear brake

First off I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and suggestions. This forum has proven very helpful with helping me get my first atv ready to run, hopefully this weekend.

Today I will be rebuilding the front brake calipers and applying new brakes, no issues doing this and hopefully all the old hardware will be good to go.

My question is the rear brake. The foot pedal does not engage the rear brake. I've done some research and have found that the design has a common problem with the brake pins seizing into place.

Before I begin to tackle the rear brake I would like to ask your thoughts. The quad stops fine as it is now, but I would like to restore, if possible, all the components to working order.

Can't seem to find a replacement brake assembly that I have confidence in purchasing to date.

Would anyone have any thoughts or publications that they may suggest how to repair or where to purchase a replacement rear brake assembly please?

Rear Differential and Transmission Fill

Hello,

I am new to this group and hope someone can help me. I have a 2015 Sportsman ETX. I drained my rear dif and transmission fluid and am having trouble filling it back up. I found the fill hole and when I opened it I was surprised to see a white plastic piece restricting me from filling. I will admit that I am not the most mechanically inclined person, but one would think that the hole would be open where a pump hose could easily fit in to fill. I have attached a picture of what I am referring to. The oil drainage is just what was on the threads trying to fill and nothing went in. I sure would appreciate any guidance I can get.

2017 can am maverick xmr lift question

Hey guys looking to put a suspension lift on my 17 maverick xmr. I’m looking at the SATV lift but they say it’s not compatible with the 17 xmr ? Does anyone know why ? The suspension on the older models appear to be identical. I have the SATV bracket lift on my maverick now that they say don’t fit the 17 xmr but it does. Just seeing if anyone knows what the difference between them is thanks guys.

Engine ticking sound on Sptmn 450

2017 Sportsman 450 HO, I have noticed a ticking/clicking sound coming from my machine at idle. Is this a characteristic noise from this motor? Sounds like a bad lifter in a car motor. Not very loud and disappears when rpm's increase. Less than 100 hrs on motor. Oil level is:eek OK. ????

Another chose to replace Polaris oil

Today I stopped at Wal-Mart to get a gallon of antifreeze for the MH and car and as I passed the motor oils I saw that they now carry Mobil 1 blend in 15w-50 full synthetic. So I got a 5-quart bottle.
I was going to use Shell's Rotella T6 in 5w-40. Polaris says to use there 5w-50. For most of us, there is no need for 5w because we do not use the ATVs in the extremely cold weather for the easer starts; that is more for those in the sub-zero temp. But yet I do feel the 50 is good for the heat that these machines put off. We do not get good air circulation of air around the inclosed engines.
The biggest thing that caught my eye is that Mobil 1 is for use in car engines and not DIESEL ENGINES as a heavy duty motor oil.
The Mobil-1 comes in a 5-quart container priced at $25.47. Which is 1/3 the cost of the Polaris oil.
I do not use the Polaris filter; I have been using the HIFlo oil filters. "HF199".The box is marked replaces Polaris 2520799; which is used on my 2018 850 SP. For those that have not heard of HIFO filters, they are known for making original equipment filters for many of the high-end autos. I have been using their filters on my ATVs for over 25 years; and have no problems. You can find them on E-bay and at some bike wholesale parts stores.

Sportsman 850 Transmission

Hey Everyone,

I need a quick turn on this one if its possible or not. I have a 2015 Polaris sportsman 850 that has transmission issues right now. I have found someone that has a 2013 transmission for quick sale and I want to know if I can mount it or not on my bike. As far as I know there were not many changes between the models so It would be great if I can mount it right up while I rebuild the original one I have.
