2008 polaris 500 sportsman HO

Hello folks, I have a 2008 500 sportsman HO... The AWD light indicates it's in 4x4 but in actual it is NOT... Checked plug at actuator and there is power.. any suggestions to where to look next would be greatly appreciated...

New setup on the 570

I bought a 18’ 570 Sportsman about 2 weeks and and today I upgraded to a set of 1k ranger wheels and tires. I used SuperATV 3/8 to 12mm adaptors and they worked great. Pics coming soon, Tapatalk won’t let me post them.

New pit bulls came in!

I couldn’t resist the 50% off on these bad boys.
I must say, these sucks are freakin HEAVY!
The stated weights on the Pitbull website are off.
They are a couple lbs heavier.
The fronts- 26x9x12 are 31lbs
The rears- 26x11x12 are 38lbs
To make it worse, these are the lighter 6 ply BG2.5’s.
I’ll post pics once there on and I’ve ridden a few miles.

Fluid change time G1

Hey fellas , time to change the front & rear diff fluid along with the gearbox oil .
Manual states SAE 75 / 90 synthetic gear lube for the diffs .
XPS chaincase lube for the gearbox .
Is there a safe replacement for the gearbox lube other than P/N 413 801 900 ?
Not that I'm against buying it but the nearest dealer is about a 40 minute drive one way .

2000 325 Magnum

Hello everyone, first post here. Great forum.

Yesterday I picked up a 2000 magnum for a guy for 700 bucks. Seems like a good deal as he stated it needed a carb cleaning. Got there got it to start but it would die. But it sounded ok so I went ahead with the deal.

Today, I drained the tank added a gallon of clean fuel with sea foam. Let it idle for an hour. Came out reved it up and I hear a ticking or clicking sound. I knew that wasn't right, so I unloaded it put in reverse and it took almost full throttle to make the wheels turn so now my heart is sinking. I put in high and made a quick spin around my back yard, not even 30 yards and it died and the pull rope is stuck.

So now I have a brick, I'm trying to get my money back but in today's world there is not much honor or character at least on the internet.

I've attached a video, with the noise. Wondering what I could donor check save from a complete rebuild. I know a guy who will do it for 1200 but damn, for all I have invested then I could have got a bigger rig.

Anyways, I took a chance and now am stuck. Thoughts please.

Battery Dying

Ok- I normally dont post on this stuff but I'm desperate for an answer that doesnt cost me an arm and a leg.

So I have a 2017 Polaris sport. I bought it just over a year ago and it has 125 miles on it and 10.5 hours of ride time.

Recently the battery died while my husband was out riding. We assumed it was the battery and purchased a new one. Immediately following this we went out for a ride and the battery died again. This time it died mid ride and we were forced to wait for the battery to charge itself up before we could continue.

In the process of getting it back home it died another 2 times while being driven. Something is draining the battery while it's being driven.

Can someone please point me in the right direction as far as where to start looking for the problem? The local repair shop wants 65 to diagnose plus repairs and quite frankly I dont have that money at the moment. The repair guy suggested it could be a converter(?) And I need someone to give me ideas on what to do.

Hard starting and shifts hard.

I have a 1996 Sportsman 500 with about 1400 miles on it. It started earlier this year with starting hard and shifting really hard. I also noticed the belt smoked once so I decided to service it. I changed all the fluids. Installed a new drive belt. Changed the spark plug, fuel filter and the air filter. It started fine and shifted really good when not running. Then when I got it off the jack stands it started hard and when I got it in gear it stalled. I adjusted the idle up a little but still had the problem. Most of the time I have to start it in gear to get it going. When running in gear I can hardly get it in or out of gear. I don't know a lot about the centrifugal clutches but wonder if it's at least some of the problem.

1995 Polaris 425 magnum issues

Hi guys I’m new here I have a 1995 Polaris magnum 2 x 4 that won’t shut off sometimes with ignition or Killswitch I put new addition Aaron didn’t make a difference I have to choke it and give it gas kill it and when it’s doing that it ask like goofy just wondering if anybody else had that issue and what it did to fix it

Riding with Kiddos

I have a 3 almost 4 year old little girl that LOVES sitting on the back of our quad. I have only rode around our small back yard with her on the back and gone less than 5mph. Even though it takes all of 5 seconds to do a full lap, i can FEEL her grinning behind me as she holds on to the handles of the back seat.

my question is, other than a helmet, what would be the best way to ensure her safety while on the back? Next time i take the quad to the property and have her with me i can go a little more than a few seconds for a ride.

I was thinking about having her sit in front of me and i just reach around her and hold on with one hand (once again, not going to be traveling at high speeds).
