i have a 2005 700 EFI im working in for a guy. That the polaris dealer told him he needed a new transmission, no he does NOT. Lol... Dealers...
Anyway Ive found out its the belt system. I pulled the cover off, everything clean and dry.
Belt? ehh.. probably needs to be replaced.
Pulled both sheaves off, both look clean
Bearing inside primary works as it should, moves freely one way but not the other. Primary moves in and out smoothly. Weird that everything seems to be working fine.
So i put the sheaves and belt back on and fire it up and test it....Start it, put it in gear, and all works like its supposed to?????????
So i put back in N, rev it up a few times and watch the primary move in and out. Looks good.. So put it in gear again, and then it starts its crap of creeping. I stick my hand on the secondary to try to stop it from moving (like its supposed to do when sitting at idle in gear) , nope.
If i put in gear and run it down driveway and use brakes to come to complete stop, engine dies.
I can pull everything off, reinstall and start it and it works perfectly. UNTIL i rev it up a few times then it does its crap. Thats really weird.
I have looked at the front motor mount and notices it was slid ALL the way to the right, so i loosened it up and got it ti move about 1/4" to left and tightened it up.. no change.
there a 2 1.58mm shims behind the secondary. I tried it with both and tried it with only 1. No change at all.
Im stumped. everything looks and manually operate as it should but yet this problem keeps happening. When it does act up, the belt is TIGHT. ALmost like the belt is too small, but its not. Right part # for the machine. I checked 3X to be sure! Installed both ways no change.
