Hi guys I got my magnum 330 running , it was sitting for over a year, dead in the water , I put a new spark plug in it and it fired up finally. The bike sounds perfect at idle in neutral, at higher rpms I hear a rattle , mechanically the bike runs well in all gears , like I said sitting at idle it sounds great just if I give it a bit of gas I get a tinny metal rattling sound any ideas? Thanks fellas
Engine dieing
2000 Sportsman 500. Engine starts and dies, repeatedly. Plenty of fuel (ethanol-free). Is there a fuel filter? Also pretty low idle.

Hello
Eleven years ago my mom started dropping hints about how nice it would be for her and my dad to have an ATV they could ride around the woods near their home outside of Carlton MN. I shopped around online and settled on a 2007 Can Am 400 Outlander Max 2-seat ATV. I paid for it over the phone and my sister who lives close by delivered it to my parents. I got the red version as I didn't want them getting it lost out in the woods. Mom was happy with the ATV but it did not get lots of use.
When my wife and I visited we enjoyed the ATV a lot. We almost lost it out in the woods even with the red color, LOL. My wife thought the steering was rather stiff though. A few years went by before my wife and I finally decided to get out own ATV for use in WA. She insisted that I get one with power steering despite my complaints that it would add a lot to the cost. The smallest cheapest 2-seat ATV we could find was the 2014 Polaris 559 EPS. It literally had two finger steering and if the power steering failed, it was no harder to steer than an ATV without power steering. I was able to talk the dealer down to $10,000 out the door.
We are about a mile from the Tahuya forest, it is simply an amazing place to ride an ATV. I was kicking myself for waiting so long to get one of my own. There was one problem though; the 48" wide bridges across some of the salmon streams. Driving through the streams is a big no-no and can result in a citation or worse. The 550 EPS is 47.6" wide, but with a rider onboard the width is greater than 48" and does not even come close to clearing the 48" gap between the rails of the bridges. Some of the newer bridges are about 5 feet wide, but the older ones are smaller. Back tracking on the trails to go around most of the bridges was not a problem.
Earlier this year 48" barriers started going up on the trail entrances. My wife and I were able to ease our ATV through some of the barriers, but not all of them. Now it was a problem. The barriers went up as the DNR had a problem with some ATV riders driving through the salmon streams.
Time to go shopping again. The 400 Outlander Max had been my 1st choice back in 2014, but I could not get it with power steering, but in 2018 it was available. The local dealer wanted $9800 when they could order one, but we found one in Lacy, WA for $8800 including tax/dealer prep. The 46" wide 450 Outlander Max barely fits across the 48" bridges, but it does the trick.
The 2018 version is nicer in that it is about 1.5" higher and has adjustable suspension. The rear seat on the 2018 model appears to be a bit smaller than the 2007 model, but is much more comfortable than the rear seat on the Polaris 550 EPS which seems to be made for kids or small adults. The Can Am's ground clearance is about an inch lower than the 550 EPS, but this is not a problem in the Tahuya forest.
The Can Am seems to have stiffer suspension than the Polaris 550 EPS but is a bit louder. I might change the muffler on the Can Am. So far we are very happy with the Can Am. The Polaris is at the MN estate (mom gave me the house) and we ride it there along with our 2-seat Polaris snowmobile.

Shifting into gear -sportsman 570 2014
I hold the hand brake and shift from park to reverse or High. It doesn't just click into gear like your car/truck. I continue to hold the brake and blip the throttle and it ratchets into gear with a little suspension shift.
Not sure if this is normal... It's kinda how I do it on my Chinese knock off 170cc sxs. But wish it was a little smoother.
Is that how you're supposed to do it? Or once the lever is in gear rock back and forth and it should pop into gear?
Just seems more aggressive or wearsome to the parts.
First quad...been jeeping.

Need help
I have a 2000 sportsman 500 4x4. The battery is charged, lights work, but won't start. It just clicks. I thought it was the battery so I've been putting a maintainer on it. Which seemed to work. But now that's not helping. I put a new battery in it and some time it starts mostly it won't. You can pull start it tho. Relay? Starter?
Shifter Linkage
I was just taking it for some laps around the house to break it in. The linkage from transmission lever decided to come apart. I went to put it into N and the lever went slack and heard something hit the driveway. it was the plastic L shaped bracket that connects the lever to the rod with the 90 deg bend. I opened up the side and put it back together after molding the heat shield back to the body piece. I was wondering if there was anything else that should be holding that linkage together besides the plastic bracket. It looks like the heat shield just got in the way and caused it to bind. if anymore pictures are needed let me know.
2007 Ranger 700 XP help please
Ok guys, sorry this is my first post but I have been a long time lurker but a very recently joined member.
I have a 07 ranger 700 xp that I bought new. We mainly use it around the farm and for hunting. I take pretty good care of this machine and I usually do all of the repairs myself. A few months ago, it got to where it did not want to start without giving it gas. Well, I took it to a guy to adjust the TPS and pretty much go over it to see if anything else needed attention while he had it there. After a new TPS and a hefty bill, the ranger will start and idle just fine (1100 rpm). As soon as I give it a little gas, it dies. IF you give it gas fast then it misses the dead spot and goes on. It is also running rich and backfiring when I let off the gas when driving, not neutral. The guy told me that it had a broken wire at the T-BAP sensor plug but he repaired it. The motor sounds different than it used to and that it is being held back when at constant low rpm's. When it is ran at wide open throttle it sounds fine.
I pulled the T-BAP sensor and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner. I have code 41, 45, and 25 showing up on the screen.
What should be my first step to getting this thing back to running right? Harness or sensor? or other?

1000 or 850 sportsman?
Currently have 2 850xp and there getting to the age where problems start occurring. Will say they’ve both been rode HARD. I use the bikes strictly for mud. My question is I’m not sure if I should go back with the 850 or get the 1000 sportsman? Not sure the difference in the two. Does anyone have the 1000 coming from the 850? I love the extra power even tho the 850 has plenty.
Exhaust question
Im looking for an slip on exhuast for my 05 outlander max and straightlines performance website says the exhaust ot for 12 to 18 is it really that different that it wont fit or can i just buy that one and put it on?
Changed the oil on the old Magnum
Going riding this weekend to Tall Pines.
Got the old Magnum all ready. I did an oil change a month and a half ago, after the machine had been brought back from the dead, but I wanted to change it again.
Out went some 0W-40 Rotella T6 and a Fram PH6017A filter. In went some 20W-50 Valvoline VR1 Synthetic and an STP 6017A filter.
The little 425cc Fuji didn't seem to care whatsoever. Runs just as great if not even quieter.
Have a great day.
