Hi
I am a new owner of a second hand Polaris Sportsman 800EFI 2007. It looks great and seems well taken care of. Came from service with new fuelpump, oil, crank and temp sensor. Pulls like a beast!
It runs great, but if i pump the throttle/rev it in neutral, it sputters. The odo has been swapped, and rpm does not show.
These are the only clues I have for my problem - it uses, what seems to me, alot of gas: 2-2,5 gall/hours or 2-3mpg.
Now, if I had driven it hard using the throttle alot, it would be fine. But Im using it for driving in low speed with frequent stops/idling. Some times pulling 200lbs for 2-3 minutes, but mostly small distance driving at low speed around 10mph. Sometimes it runs for 5 minutes, other times 25-30.
Is this to be expected or is it abnormal? Is there something I should check or is likely to be the fault form this? Oil seems fine, not using any water, starts fine. No fault codes present.
Thanks for any help! If this continues, i might have to swap it out for a less thirsty one :sad
