Renegade XXC springs and shock settings advice

Hi all,

New member here with a suspension question. I recently purchased a new 2018 Renegade XXC with the Fox shocks. It rides like a brick. The spring pre-load is cranked way up and the ATV has more than 12 inches of ground clearance as delivered. Obviously, the pre-load adjusters for the springs need to be cranked-down so the springs can flex more (thereby also reducing that extra high ground clearance a bit).

Here's the rub, fully geared up and ready to ride I weigh about 300 pounds (I know, diet time--working on that now). I'm sure the stock springs are made for an average weight rider (say 180 pounds). Will I be able to adjust the stock shocks as-is for my weight or should I try to get heavier springs? As the springs are adjusted now, the ATV sags maybe just an inch when I sit on it. Second question--where do I find new springs? I've looked on the web and can't find any replacement springs spec'd specifically for my ATV.

So if there are any suspension experts or other heavy riders with an ATV like mine that could give me some help it would be much appreciated. If you could also give some advice on the other adjustments on the shocks that I should make that would be great too (things like settings for the low and high speed adjusters (is this what they mean by DSC?) and the rebound adjuster).

Frankly, I've only ridden this ATV across my yard as I'm afraid I'm going to break something at the trails if I don't get the shocks adjusted correctly first (it rides that stiff). FWIW, I live in northeast Ohio and ride moderately fast on trails that have a mix of flat ground, big rocks, roots, and ruts. I need to a minimum of 9 inches of ground clearance to clear obstacles. However, I also aware that 12 inches is way more than I should have, too.

What should I do?

Less than 20 hours on my 2018, gearbox is gone

2018 Outlander 850 XT-P.

80% of my riding has been on streets, frozen lakes, or easy trails... I have less than 20 hours on the machine.

I went for one hard mud ride with a group of friends and the bike performed great, drove it home with zero issues. After cleaning the bike I drove it to the gas station, parked it leaving it in High gear and shut it off. When I left and started it up I gave it gas and it wouldn't budge.

The bike was "stuck in neutral", no power to driveshafts, the shifter would move from Low down to R but not park...

Tore everything apart, the shifting linkage was fine, clutch was fine so I dropped it off to the dealer and they just called me the gearbox is toast but they don't know why yet.

I purchased the 2 year warranty so they better not try and dick me around.

New forum member from Ohio here

Hello everyone, great to be here!

Even though I just became a member to the forum this morning I've actually been using it for about a year now. I've was able to get a lot of useful answers for my projects during that time but now I'd like to be involved in the discussions, post pics, etc. so it was time to become an official forum member.

A little about me: Last summer I got back into riding ATVs after a several year break due to my job, raising the family, yadda yadda yadda. For my first ride back to the sport I chose a 2008 Can Am Renegade 800X. It was a good bike and I had some fun with it, but with like a lot of used machines, it needed more work than my schedule could handle. So time for an upgrade. Overall I liked the 800X a lot so I simply updated to a newer version of the same idea--a 2018 Renegade 850 x XC! I've had it since Memorial Day but a knee injury has kept me from riding it. The knee is doing better and I should be riding in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I ordered some BRP HMWPE skids for it and I set about installing them last night.

It's good to be here. I’m sure you will start seeing some new posts from me soon. In fact, I guarantee you will!

See you around the forums!

06 sportsman 500 efi problem

Hey guys, trying to help my father in law out with his 2006 sportsman 500 efi. It will crank, has spark, and will spark on starter fliud but will not turn over. Took the fuel filter out and cleaned it along with the fuel injector. Is there something I could be missing as to why it's not sparking on fuel or running?

Upgrade ideas for a 2015 Sportsman ETX

Hello internet! I have a 2015 Polaris Sportsman ETX. I got it brand new with no modifications. I was considering the 570 but money was a concern. I have put a lot of work into it since. I have done the following modifications:

-Warn Vantage 3000 winch
-26" GBC Afterburn Tires
-HMF EFI Tuner
-HMF Titan Exhaust with snorkel kit
-PVD and Air Cleaner Snorkels
-K&N Air Filter with Filterwears water resistant pre-filter

I think that is all the performance mods I have to date. I will probably invest in a high quality drive belt too at some point but I was wondering what other people might have done to modify there ETX if they have one of if anyone knows what else is out there. I have looked but I'm finding places don't make much for the ETX.

Any information you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Needed guidance on buying a lift kit

Just bought a 2018 xmr 570 and want to install a 2” lift. Was thinking of doing the spacer lift. Do you guys recommend them? Do they cause more issues down the road with putting anything in a bind or added stress and make something wear out faster? Where is the best/cheapest place or site to buy lifts from? Thanks!

2004 Sportsman 700efi

Machine won’t stay started unless jumper cables stay attached. Previous owner has gone thru 3 batteries in 3 years. I’m thinking that the voltage regulator is bad. Any known problems with this same issue for this year/model??
