Sales events

Hey guys. I’m new to the forum and have a quick question. I’m looking into getting a New Outlander 850 xt and was curious when is the best time to buy one? I know Can-Am does sales events throughout the year and was wondering if anybody knows when they are? I’d like to get one in January but if I can save a little money by waiting a couple months I’m going to. Hope to hear from all of you and would really appreciate it!

13 Sportsman running rough

Just picked up a 13 Sportsman 500 with around 1400 miles and it was running very rough wouldn't idle/backfiring. I did some general maintenance replaced the spark plug, oil change, and replaced the battery after doing that it was running great but battery light and speedo needle was blinking drove it up and down the block a few times no stutters or backfires got it up to 50 without issue.

Parked it started it back up 2 hours later the battery light/speedo needle are still blinking but its running very rough again barely idling backfiring when given throttle

Battery resting voltage is 12.79
When ATV is running runs about 14.2

Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong or where to start I'm guessing its something electrical however since the voltage seems normal I'm a bit lost any help or ideas is appreciated

Clutch Kit – Post Installation Questions

Just installed a QSC Clutch Kit and a new belt. Kept the cover off to look at everything.

1. Noticed a small pile of fine belt shavings on the ground. I'm assuming this is normal with the new belt taking on shape?

2. Anything to look at or listen for after install? Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.

I did a couple of short runs up and down the drive way. Seems fine in reverse, low and high. I did jack it up, placed it in high, and ran it for about 15 secs on a gradual throttle. Everything appears normal.

3. Around RPMS.. I used the small shim. I'm idling around 1250-1300 (same before clutch kit was installed). Should it be idling higher? I did go up from 26" to 28" (Zillas) tires, so I'm thinking I should still be good with this setup. But I'm guessing, I might have to experiment to find what suits me with the shims.

Thanks!!

weird speedometer issue, display’s ‘0’ when first starting out.

My speedometer decided it was not going to work (just reads '0') until it gets driven a few miles and then it starts working and doesn't skip a beat. I just got done cleaning the VSS and it's still doing the same thing. Put 350 miles on this weekend and it worked the whole weekend, minus the first couple miles the very first day. I don't get it. As far as I can tell, the VSS signal goes directly to the gauge cluster (I have the XTP one). So it has to be either the VSS or the gauge cluster....?? When it displays '0' I don't get any lights and my power steering appears to be working just fine. All I notice is the speedometer reads '0' and hence it's not counting miles.

I tried to meter it according to the service manual but my POS Craftsman meter resets itself everytime it goes to zero so I can't get a good feel if the sensor is pulsating from 0-12V like it should be.

Anybody ever heard of such a thing? The part that throws me for a loop is I don't get any lights on my dash related to the power steering. I always though if the VSS goes bad the power steering goes goofy.

Winch issue

I have a 2011 sportsman 500 and the first time I used the winch it malfunctioned. I wrapped it around some deadfall to pull it out of the trail and it would not stop pulling in even after I shut the key off it kept pulling in until it bound up tight and still would not stop until I put the winch into neutral. It is a factory winch so I would assume it has an inline fuse that should have blown when it overloaded but it did not. The electrical solenoid was not mounted to anything and was bouncing around. I'm guessing the solenoid is the problem but not sure how to diagnose and the fuse issue puzzles me. Any help would be appreciated.
