2003 sportsman 500 cam sprocket bolts broken
i replaced the head on my 03’ sportsman 500 HO. It ran great in the garage and around the yard. Then I take it on the trail, i heard a metal snap and it stopped. I turned the key to start it again and nothing.
I opened it up at home and found the two bolts located on the cam shaft sprockets were broken. One was out and in one piece.
When I put the chain on the sprocket and I tightened the three bolts to Manufacture specs.
Now i have a cam with two broken bolts stuck in there and i have no idea how this (broken bolts and one loose bolt) happened.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

2003 700 temp before fan kicks in
just wondering what the normal operating temp is on these things when the fan kicks in, i have an after market temp gauge mounted on it and the idiot light in the cluster is no longer hooked up. think the fan kicks on at about 215 degrees and shuts down around 190, just wondering if this is normal? seems a little warm to me. thanks all
Newbie 02 sportsman 700
Hi everybody,
Bought a new outlander and it has a idle problem
So I picked up a 2014 Outlander 800 this weekend with 55 miles on it. It was showroom new and had only been ridden around his yard, there wasnt a single scratch on it. Anyways I took it for a spin and it ran fine so I was fine with it given its condition. After I start riding the idle seemed high and stays around 2900 to 3200. If i hit the brakes really hard it will go down to 1200 then go right up to 1600. As soon as I rev it it'll stick at around 3000 again. It is not throwing a code so idk what to do. I sprayed either around the boots and they don't seem to be leaking. I ohmed the tps sensor out and it doesn't seem to be doing anything weird it starts at a certain number and with the throttle pinned it to a certain number and doesn't stick anywhere in between. The quad also hesitates sometimes like I'm riding a 50cc moped or something. Idk where to go next.
August in Wisconsin
Location : Iron River, WI
trails to hit : Iron River Trail -> Valhalla Trail -> Lenawee Trail -> [stop at Old Baldy Look out.] -> Battleaxe Trail -> back to Iron River Town
date -time : August
at least two day, or 2 nights 3 days ? depends on schedules, dates, weather...
here is a Plan for weekend / or ...
day-1
Arrive at noon, check in / go for short ride, southern trail system , "bearpaw" "buckskin" . come back 4bbq. beer. &rest
Night-1 sleep
Day-2
start ride 8am. make a loop with stop for quick lunch and drink, by Valahalla, come back afternoon 2-3pm ,4pm the latest?
Get things together and move to another location for 2nd night, up to 3-4hours away.
Night-2 rest..
Day-3 ? moved to BRF - cuz it's on our way back home. same we split long trip a half ... to come back home...
Black River Falls ... if not both at least southern part, but IMO we could hit both counties in one day...
Night 3- stay @ BRF or back home...
this is what I've planned... we could change BRF for something else, or make day1&2 in one day, but i bet most of us will be to tired to pack and go further same day. so I planned it the easiest way...
Or- meet one morning [9am] @ BRF - hit both counties- stay night @ BRF.
then early morning move up north to Iron river.ride and stay night there. then go back home, or move on ... If all goes well , we could move on another trail...
I assume these are 60-70 miles trails , with avg. speed of 15-20mph, 4h is way enough to make loop or trail back and forth...

How to keep water out off the belt housing
I have a 2014 570 efi touring and when i'm going through shallow water or even water thes splashing up its getting into the belt housing. I looked for a drain and did not see one.
I talked with polaris and was told its getting into the belt housing by the 2 breather vents. how can i correct this.
