2000 Sportsman 500 Overheating

Hello Gentlemen!

This is my first post on the site and I have a question I’m hoping you all could help me with! I have a 2000 sportsman 500 my dad bought new and it’s been a good machine on the farm and all of a sudden the fan hasn’t been coming on lately. My dad started it up the other day and ran it for a few minutes and it over heated in no time. I jumped the fan to the battery and it runs good but doesn’t come on when it gets up to temp, so I replaced the temp sensor in the radiator thinking the sensor was bad and that didn’t solve the problem. I then pull the cover on the water pump thinking the impeller or bearing went on me and that all seems to be in good working order also.... so what’s should I check next? It just seems like I’m getting a circulation issue and the hot coolant isn’t circulating through the radiator and across the sensor to engerize the fan. What is your guys take on this?

Thanks you for your time and help!
Kyle

Hello from Monmouth, OR

Hello,
I recently purchased a 2001 Trailblazer 250 for something to get around on. I have Multiple Sclerosis and didn't want something too burly but I used to build two strokes and my brother had his own shop where he had a 7mm stroker 400 that ran hard. His shop was Mac Racing. He is doing some work again under the name 2Mac Racing, we are working together. It is nice to be here.

Xmr problems

Hey guys this is my first can am bike. I have to say I love it. It has 30” tires that are rock hard with no air. My trail is pretty rocky and the problem I’m have is the front fenders are cracking by the front rack mount. I had a crack in the frame under the seat which I fixed with some welding and bracing. That seemed to fix it. But yesterday I was on it again and the fenders are still cracking. Are there any other spots on the frame to check for breaking? What could be causing this other than a broken frame allowing the bike to twist out of tolerance?

2004 sportsman 400 solenoid help

I bought a new starter and it came with a new solenoid so I put it on and I'm not getting any power to the other side of it that goes to the starter. So i took it off and put the old one back on that I know works and the same thing is happening. The solenoid only has three prongs on it, two big and one little. When I jump the top big prong to the one little the bottom one that goes to the starter clicks. Am I missing something or wired wrong?

Xmr 1000 could use a little help please

Bike was built 11/2012 the owners manual is for a 2013 everything is stock.
The bike doesn't get ridden much any more, so it sets more than anything. About a year ago I cranked it and it was a little slow to crank but I figured no big deal it's the original battery, everything seemd to work as it should. Throughout the day it was getting harder to start, but still ran fine once it cranked. A week or two later I came back to it still sluggish to crank but wouldn't get over about 5500rpm/45mph. A week or so later I charged the battery and it cranked and ran fine. Well over the course of the last few months my son has been ridding it around in the yard just putting around on it.
I had been noticing a message that says maintance required but figured that was for the oil change, I pulled the dip stick and oil come pouring out.
After some reading on that I've seen where others have had the same issue when just putting around they say gas is leaking past the rings due to the amount of fuel this thing is programed to dump.

Yesterday I changed the oil, gear box oil, and air filter. And still won't get over 5500rpm/45mph.

At first I figured the battery being low was going to be my problem not sending enough juice to the computer but after charging it and still not running right I'm not for sure it's a battery problem now.

I did unhook from the original battery and hook a truck battery to it and took it for a spin it the yard to see if that helped but had the same issues.

I unhooked the battery over night to see if that would reset the computer but still the same symptoms this morning.

I pulled the back spark plug yesterday to see if it was fouled but it still looked ok, that front plug looks like it's going to be a major pain to get out so I haven't pulled it yet.

I was just wondering if y'all could give me something else to check out

Also I've tried all three keys both black keys and the gray key

Quick run down on symptoms

Bike set up for a while
Hard to start but ran ok
Then wouldn't get over 5500rpm/45mph
Charged battery easy to start ran normal
Little bit later hard to start again wouldn't get over 5500rpm/45mph
Charged battery easy to start but won't get over 5500rpm/45mph
Message says Maintance required

I appreciate any help y'all can give me on this, it's been out of warranty and I'm trying like hell not to have to take it to the dealer if I don't have to
