Tips for protecting new Sportsman

Picking up my new Sportsman 570EPS tomorrow. It’s not my First ATV but is my first brand new one. What does everyone recommend to help the mud come off? Right now I’m planning on giving it a coat of SC1 on the underneath and possibly waxing the plastics. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Calling all Can-Am 850/1000 owners for insight!

Hey folks,

First post here, hopefully ill be spending much more time here soon! Short introduction; 22 from Alberta Canada, Currently ride a 2008 Yamaha Wolverine 450, been riding for about 10 years. BMWs, old Cummins trucks, computers, camping, and skiing are the rest of my life when work isn't taking over.

Looking at picking up a new machine late this summer or into fall and am well underway into researching what I want. I have narrowed it down to either an Outlander 850 XMR, or a Renegade 1000 XMR and I keep going back and forth between them. The ideal machine would be a short chassis Outty 1000 XMR. I was hopeful for 2019 models to incorporate one but they have been released for a couple weeks now and no such luck.
So, I have scheduled to go in and speak with a reputable dealer in a couple weeks about some options, hopefully they have a couple machines I can throw a leg over. For now I am looking for some insight from "non-commission based opinions" if you will. Been riding 450 and 500 sport 4x4s (scramblers/wolverines) for close to 10 years now, and I think I am finally ready to step up to something more capable, with some more jam to it.

if you have an 850, is it enough? wish you had more?

Why you do you like your renegade/outlander over the outlander/renegade?

I'm really interested in the Outlander 850 XMR for the already racked rad, rear rack/storage, and the 2019 colour for the 850 is sick in my opinion.
The renegade looks flat out nasty, and I want that motor and the shocks... but to shell out an extra $4,000CAD, plus a rad relocate, and probably a small aftermarket rear rack is hard to justify for essentially cut fenders and +10HP in my mind.

No matter which machine I end up with I plan on the basic mods (pipe, tuner, filter, clutches), and will be running SuperATV Assasinators.
Outlander 1000XMR is out of the question for right now unless someone changes my mind, I know people that have owned them and regretted it because the terrible turning radius and long wheelbase makes it tough to use anywhere but a mudhole.

Sanity Check Before Ordering

I have a 2014 Sportsman 570 EPS, which is pretty much stock and probably long over due for some upgrades. I ride on typical dirt trails, but most of these same trails are mixed with very nasty mud, ruts, and gawd awful Carolina clay.

The current tires usually do well on dirt and rock, but man they go from 26" to 32" tires going through mud. They don't seem to clear the mud out as good as some of the other tires I've seen, and typically I'm getting pulled out. Sometimes its more or less bottoming out as well.

Current setup:
[Wheels] Polaris SIXr 14x7
[Tires] MOTO Attack 26x9x14 & 26x11x14

After combing through the forum this week. Looks like I'm going to pull the trigger on the following:
- Maxxis Zilla 28x9x14 & 28x11x14 (Going with the 28" over another 26" tire for a little more height, but if I understand correctly these are actually an 1" shorter.)
- RVS Performance Clutch

Anything else I need to consider (or re-consider) on getting a little more edge on the trails? Just wanted a sanity check before ordering.

Thanks!!

2003 sportsman 500 HO not starting (turns over)

The sportsman will not start for me. It turns over no problem using the starter. I’ll crank it for a while then eventually make a loud pop noise. The air seems to come through the carb.

i got it to run briefly yesterday using starter fluid. That was short lived. I could not get it to start after that using starter fluid.

one weird thing i noticed. After trying to start it for a while using the start button the engine just wouldn’t move. I forgives this was due to me drawing on the battery. So i went to use the pull start. It was solid, would not move. After a decent amount of time passes i use the cord and it moves again.

-I checked compression,80 psi.
-it has a spark, replaced the spark plug
-i checked fuel flow. It’s not a heavy flow but it’s moving the gas. I cleaned the fuel pump. Just dusty no mud.
-i removed and cleaned the carb.
-Iremoved and cleaned the starter. One of the brushes was stuck.
-battery is good. About a year old.
-Air-filter ER is nice and clean
-new gas
-i pulled the valve cover off. Everything moves, no metal or grinding noise

I’m about to remove the engine and start looking inside. Any help would work be greatly appreciated!!

Tires and Wheels

I have a 2007 Sportsman 800x2 Deluxe if I go to 14 inch wheels will it clear the strut without spacers?

2004 Polaris magnum 330 bogs down at full throttle

Hey guys I bought a 2004 Polaris 330magnum last summer, my first bike, and it ran fine for a few months but it started bogging out at full throttle and doesn't seem to have the power it used to have. I've cleaned the carb, changed spark plug and drained the gas tank and added fresh gas. I just had a diagnostic test done and it didn't show any problems! Any ideas?

Is there a new DEMAND DRIVE FLUID

The fluid I always used was a purple color, the new bottle I just opened (YES, It says,,,DEMAND DRIVE FLUID ) is a motor oil color. Dealer is closed so cant ask them, can anyone confirm this??

Never mind I found a newer bottle that had a coupe oz's in it and it was clear.

What the heck is up with my oil level?? Sportsman 570

2016 Sportsman 570. Just changed the oil and dropped 2 quarts of new in. My dipstick is showing about 1/2 inch past the fill line. Started it up. Drove it around the yard a few times. Waiting 10 minutes and checked the level again. Still shows way high. I don't get it.

No electrical power

Hi all, I hope someone can help me. I have a 2006 outlander 800 that developed an electrical issue. I have no power to anything when the key is turned on. I have checked all the obvious things and finally went to the dealer. They told me I either needed a wiring harness or a ecm. I confirmed it's not the ecm by replacing with a known working ecm and key, still nothing. There is power to the fuse box everywhere therefore should be and all the wiring behind it is good. I've cleaned the main ground wires. The dealer tested the key switch and kill switch and claim they are working properly. Still no power. I can get everything to power up (dash, lights ext) if I manually send a relay to ground. But there is no ignition or fuel pump. I have done everything I can think of and don't know what else to test. Can anyone steer me in the right direction.

Performance upgrades

I'm in the market for another atv after I sold my 1000xt. I regret selling that bike, but anyway I should be getting a xmr 1000 within the next few weeks. What are some of the best performance mods for this bike? The first thing I know I want is aftermarket clutches
