Pennzoil Platinum

My nearest Polaris dealer is too far, so I've been looking for alternatives to PS-4. Where I'm at in Canada, it seems my options are not as vast as what I've seen across many forums. Looks like a lot of people are using Rotella T6 5w40, but at prices far cheaper than I can get it: $50 for 5L.

Canadian Tire has Pennzoil Platinum Euro Synthetic which comes in 5w40 for $33, and the manufacturer has a $10 rebate. So that is cheap. Has anyone used it?

On the same topic, the only filter I can seem to get my hands on, without having to order online is a FRAM PH6017A @ $13.
Or a K&N KN204 for $16 from Amazon.. Prime could get it to me in 3 days..

I'm hoping to get products that are as good or better than the Polaris branded. This is for a '14 Sportsman 570.. under used might I add. Some fall trail riding, mostly winter plowing, and a little work in the spring/summer.

Power steering issue in 4×4 only. Help!

Hello,

I have a 2016 Polaris Sportsman 1000 Touring LE and the power steering unit was recently replaced by the dealer but I’m still having an issue. Power steering works in 2x4 but once you move the selector into 4x4 it stops working. I can’t for the life of me figure out why. Anyone ever experience this issue?

2018 Sportsman 570 EPS Warning Lights.

Very long story, short version. New machine, 40 miles. Never rode hard (i'm 65), never pressure washed, just around house work and trips to deer stand. Working around house, EPS light came on, followed by engine light, triangle lights. Shut down, checked everything. Restart, lights off. Shortly, same thing, happened several more times. EPS works fine, all temps and levels ok, just lights. Hauled to dealer, machine 9 months old, w/6 mons warranty (of course). Dealer says communication problem can't find issue, may just send it home to ride with lights on...uh, no! Now saying new EPS unit or complete wiring harness, $1200-$1800 plus labor! They say Polaris is good about helping with parts, if i'll cover labor. Again, don't think so. If machine needs new EPS or wiring harness, I took it from dealership WITH those issues. Still no word on final outcome, been there a month. Ideas or suggestions?

Winch and winch mount plate questions

On the wife’s 2016 sportsman 450ho I purchased the factory Polaris 2500lbs winch kit when I bought the ATV. Well last weekend the winch fried and is in need of replacement. But I don’t want to replace with the same winch being how short the first one lasted. My question is can I mount a equivalent warn 2500lbs winch in its place or do I need to get another mounting plate for it.

2004 Sportsman 500 HO: No grease fittings on suspension bushings

I recently bought a 2004 Sportsman 500, and am starting restoration work on it. I noticed there are no grease fittings on any of the suspension connection points. All of my other IRS Polaris ATVs have them (2001 and older models). Is it worth drilling into the A-Arms and installing grease fittings, or did Polaris accurately determine that grease in those joints doesn't add much in terms of durability?

Clutch cover for 91 Trail boss

Does this head gasket look bad?

Hey guys, I bought a 2014 Polaris 850 XP. Guy said he had some water come over the front, it died. He restarted it, drove 1/4 mile home and parked it for a week, started it, and he saw the wrench come on and thought it was bad, and left it sit for 3.5 years. I bought it and with a little work, it fired up and ran like a champ. No issues, besides what I'm hoping was the belt slipping. It'll be here tomorrow to replace. However, I had this small oil leak from the head, a little smoke from the exhaust, and kind of a sweet smell, which I figured could have been coolant. I did a compression test and had around 100-110 pounds on one cylinder, and about 90-100 on the other. I decided to tear it down today, and I guess I'm not exactly sure how the oil would have got to the other side of the coolant channel to leak out. There aren't any cuts on the gasket, but...what does a bad head gasket look like? Did I do the right thing? I am also changing the injectors because it say so long and one had dirt down inside past the O-ring. Thanks for looking guys!

One more thing. Just noticed one set of intake valves is clean, other is dirty and same for exhaust valves?

New guy here

Hello, my name is Randy. I have a 2008 Polaris Sportsman Touring model I purchased just for fun. I plan to do most of my riding in the Erhenburg,AZ area. I have good mechanical skills but am not a seasoned ATV rider. I ride a motorcycle and I rode snowmobiles in my younger days. I’m looking forward to learn my new interest in this forum and contribute where I can.
