hd8 water pump weep line

i am new to the defender and have hd8 base model with 128miles on it. after a bit of a road ride today i noticed some coolant laying in the belly of my machine and it has come from the water pump weep line. just curious if this is the same issues ive read about with the rotary seal on other rotax engines? nervous to have it happen this early with little hours/miles on it.

New To The Forum

I have only been riding an ATV for just over a year. I just bought my second Sportsman 570 a new 2018 and I love it. I have been riding motorcycles for over fifty years and last year started having knee issues so I put the Vulcan 1500 away until I can get surgery on my knee but, it seems I have taken to the four wheeler more than I really expected to.

I live in Enfield, Nova Scotia and we have numerous trails around my area, everything from mud runs to rock climbing up rather steep hills and old rail beds some of which you can travel for hours.

Any documented warranty issues for not following TIME recommendations for service?

Such as oil change or lube every six months?

Hours I can understand. But not the ridiculous time/calendar provided by Polaris.

Then again, I finally picked up my warranty paperwork from the dealer. Said it was purchased (the warranty) when I already had 150 hours on the machine. Hell, I only have 16 hours. Brought it back in and he said, “polaris won’t care. I’ve nwver had an issue.”

So I pushed and said, “engine toasts at 50 hours and they won’t say anything about this extended service plan not starting until 150?”

Nope was his answer.

Timing chain popped off after counterweight broke

Hey guys just bought an 07 400 outlander. First run bike loses power and shuts off. Removed valve cover and found timing chain off cam sprocket and peice of metal broken off cam weight. Where the timing chain popped off will the piston hit and damage valves? I have all timing gear ordered and case split to replace but didn't want to take head off. Any tips before installing everything would be appreciated as Well!

Cooling system wellness check ?

As some of you may have noticed , I posted a thread with a cooling system issue I had the other day .
I'm pretty sure it's resolved but I got to wondering :

Is there a way to ensure the fan , temp sensor and relays are all functioning correctly without running the bike until it's time for the fan to kick on ?

’17 Sportsman 570 Touring air filter kit part #’;s

Hello,

I have a 2017 Sportsman 570 Touring with 35 hours and 255 miles on it. I have never replaced my air filter. I looked at my owners manual but don't see any part #'s listed.

I want to buy the:
MAIN FILTER,
PRE-FILTER,
&
BREATHER VALVE

Anyone have or know where I can find the part #'s for these?

Also, I read somewhere that Dodge Neon air filters will work on these. Is this true? If so what is the benefit of using the Neon ones?

Thank you

Brake clean for engine internals??

I’m replacing the top end and the water pump seals/bearings on my 02 Scrambler 400 and the inside is pretty dirty. Is it ok to spray it down with brake clean so clean it out?

2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 X2 EFI shows “HOT” on dashboard. Engine will not start.

Hello
Problem statement:2007 Polaris sportsman 500 X2 EFI shows HOT on dashboard. Engine will not start – or turn over.
* The gas pump- I hear humming from the gas tank.
* The valve atop the carburetor is actuating (on /off) plunger - type valve, sits above the flapper valve.
* Fan has 2.5v going to it—cycling 1.6v to 2.5v. I ran 12 v to the fan -- it will run.
* The ATV will not start nor turn over. I ran 12v directly across the starter solenoid, it will turn over then.
* With the key on – no light come on.
* I followed the owners manual to turn the key on/off 3x and watch the display. The books say the "Wait" will flash and go through it sequence --- this not occurring no ,matter how I sequence it.
I get the "Check engine" icon and the "HOT" icon. Obviosuly something is faulty as I receive this "HOT" code- but the engine is not on.
I read some forms to check a T/C, I see no T/C on anything atop the cylinder.

I assume the ECM is faulty -- not sure what to do.
I need some expert guidance from the technical guys here.

Thank you for your time

Best way to accessorize new commander

Hey folks. Looking at buying a new commander. My question for you all is, is it better to buy aftermarket accessories or buy straight from dealer. I would be looking for full skid plate, winch, roof, doors, lights, plow..and maybe a couple other things I've forgotten. The dealer seems to make a tonne off these. If you were going to outfit a new machine, how would you do it? Recommend suppliers? Things you definitely would buy only through dealer? Thanks folks.
