1999 trail Boss

"Peace and love peace and love"...Ringo

My beloved 250 is driving me krazy!
It started with a most unexpected back fire.
BOOM... knocked off the muffler and springs that hold it.
Scared the be-Jesus out of the dog running along beside.
I might have peed a little.
Since then it just ain't acting right.
It will idle just fine but will only rev up if I mash the override button.
Rebuilt the carb but that was not the problem.
It does the same thing after I put in the carb rebuild kit...
HELP

Trying to dial in the unknown

background - bought a 03 trailblazer 400 a couple weeks ago. from what I can tell, has a k&n and custom pipe. No idea what if anything else has been done to it.

heres my issues. first off the thing pulls hard in the mid and top range. no break up, no sputtering, rips around as long as its revved up.
1. idle sounds maybe a tad low. when sitting at idle and giving it full throttle it doesnt really bog, it sounds like its sucking in too much air or something. makes a deep hollow sound for about a second then revs up.
2. in reverse and in forward gear, it has to rev up before it moves. I dont have a tach but im guessing it doesnt move until about 2k rpm, maybe higher. I can "brake boost" it, hold the brake and rev til i feel the gear kick in, then go. When i do that, it almost feels like turbo lag, it moves until it hits the pipe, then hang on.
3. Yesterday i was able to find a long straight stretch of trail, and I went wide open. It pulls hard with no break up, but at what im guessing was 40mph, i felt another surge of power.

Im not sure what any of this means but the only real issue I have is having to rev to move. if you guys have any insight or suggestions that would be awesome.

97 scrambler 400 front axle seal question

I rebuilt the hubs and strut with new bearings and seals, I don’t have them together yet, I am concerned I seated the axle seal in the back of the strut to far, is it supposed to seat all the way in or is it supposed to be spaced back a little l, the old gasket left green marks so it looked like it seated all the way down, but now thinking about it I might I pushed them down when removing them. There isn’t a whole lot of YouTube info on that specific topic, thx for any help

05 ATP 500 to Sportman front suspension conversion

All,

I have a 05 ATP 500 with a very low sitting front end. Upon researching how to make the quad sit level (springs, lift). I have found out the 05 ATP has 6.7" struts and the sportsman has 8.2". I'm contemplating converting it to the Sportsman front suspension. I have looked at all the front suspension components and it looks to me like the only difference is Spring/struts/a-arms/axle shafts/tie rods. What's your thoughts? I'm I missing anything ? Does this make sense to do? or is there a better route?

ETC switch gone bad?

I have a 96 Sportsman 500 that has a the bogging issue when you give it gas. I've gone through the carb and airbox and was looking at my ETC switch. When I close it manually it has no effect on how the quad runs so I measured the resistance across the two pins and got zero resistance, like the switch is always closed. Anyone else messed with the ETC switch that may be able to shed some light on this for me?
