Float bowl repair

Ever take the float bowl off of a carburetor and find the overflow tube damaged? I have seen them corroded off and split - the carb overflows regardless what you do to it and there is no easy fix other than replacing the float bowl with a new or used one and in some cases you have to get a complete carb.

I repair float bowls (almost every make and model) - I remove the damaged bronze tube and install a stainless steel tube. there are few float bowls that I cannot repair. Attached are a couple pics of a broken tube from a 2004 Kawasaki KFX700. In the third pic is both float bowls from V-twin engine. The bowl on the left has the original brass or bronze tube - the bowl on the right has a stainless steel tube installed. The Kawasaki is one of those machines that you have to buy a carburetor to get the float bowl. The carb cost $585.60 - I can repair the bowl for $50 and the repair is permanent. The stainless tube will not corrode off or split and it is more durable than the thin brass tube the factory installs. No danger of breaking the tube by dropping the bowl. You really have to work at it to (intentionally) to break it.

Front Prop shaft U joints 2015 Sportsman 850 SP

Hello, new user here, first post.

2015 Sportsman 850 SP.

I can't find many videos on this specific U joint. I've never don't this before. I have the whole thing apart and now I'm putting it back together using the service manual. (using a vice and socket).

I'm at the point where I'm setting the bearing caps. I get the first one set but the clip (its an outer one) won't hold when I'm trying to set the one on the other side. The bearing cap is pushing and bending the clip out. Also the bearing is tight. it moves but it's tight.

Did I screw something up? How do I get the other cap seated?

Sorry if repost, I did a search and found nothing fruitful so I made an account.

Thanks!

2016 sportsman 450ho

2016 sportsman 450 ho idling rough, back firing, dies when throttle is given. I was riding it on a level surface for its monthly ride. It was runnng great and all of the sudden when to crap. This ATVs literally has 200 miles on it. It’s my personal ATV and I’m the only one that has rode it. It has been babied and never in mud deeper that the tread of the tires. Any time I don’t get to ride I go our every 30 days and run the bile for 10 minutes to keep fluids moving. It has never had ethanol in it. I have replaced the spark plug, air filter and had my buddy check that the EPS wires were good. He also checked that the fuel injectors were firing. He says it sounds like a timing issue. We’re not sure how to check the throttle because it doesn’t have a cable adjustment its a “fly by wire”. Any ideas guys?

where to find Brake Lines – OEM is $$$ – 2004 sportsman 400

2004 sportsman 400. I've put new real calipers, new rear master cylinder. All good - but then I ripped the brake line (long story.) Called my dealer, $90 (plus tax) for a simple 38" brake line. That's insane

Anybody have suggestions on how I can do this brake line for less than that? Looks like a pretty standard braided steel brake line.

Right foot wet

2015 Outlander 650xt. I was wondering if anyone have a modification to keep your right foot from getting wet when going through puddles of water? Water always seems to splash through where the rear brake is. It's kind of annoying just wondering if someone put kind of metal or something there to divert the water.

Rear rack options?

I have a ‘17 Renegade XMR 570, what are my options for a rear rack? I see Wild Boar has one that says fits all models, I also see people with the LinQ system from can am. I’m open to all options just trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t, thank you!

500 HO backfiring and smoking

Hello there
A few months ago the intake side of my piston and cylinder got scored up badly while riding and only had 30 psi. Still not 100% sure of cause but maybe water in or low oil? It was very cold that day so maybe oil froze up? Why only top/intake side? Anyway yesterday I finished putting a new piston and cylinder in. Got it stated up and would kind of backfire and sputter and sometimes shut off after. If I used the key to shut off it would back fire as well. I believe all the backfiring was from the carb. Also after the backfire where the header and main pipe connect would start blowing white smoke. The pipe seemed very hot for only a few seconds of running too. Does this sound like my cam is off one tooth on the chain? Is the smoke assembly lube burning up? Wouldn’t it be more blue then? As you can probably tell I’m not the best with four strokes so any help would be appreciated. I might try to get video later today. Thanks, Erik
