Took it out on it's maiden voyage last weekend.
Things I noticed: The heat on the left leg, not a big deal. My 2004 Arctic Cat 650V2s do the same thing. I bet any V twin will do the same thing.
Interesting is that DW thought it was better than the ACs in this regard. I thought it was about the same, just lower on the leg. T I think the different perceptions is due to our different body types/measurements... So YMMV.
I did notice that the heat is noticeably less when using the performance key... Perhaps the AF mixture is richer when using that key?
The deluxe fairing and mirrors,, well the mirrors in spite of the difficult and rinky dink attachment system were surprisingly good. The shake was not an issue on decent roads, where they would be most needed. rough trails of course rendered them useless, but any of my past mirrors are that way too... And on such roads it is unlikely that they will be needed. I am still not convinced that they will last very long though, I will keep them as long as they hold up, just because they are doing a good job so far.
The ride with the fox podium shocks is very good. I will try it the way they are for spring Turkey. That will give me some idea if it needs heavier springs for the weight of me and my gear. Plan is to use the stock springs with the Foxes if needed, and go to the HD springs if even more capacity is needed.
The mode button on the display is loose. It appears that the plastic trim that holds it all together came loose. I will look into this, but think it just needs reinstalled.
Love the wireless winch option.
And the 3000# warn is noticeably stronger than the 2500 Warns on the ACs.
The Baja light option is fantastic, as are the fairing LED projector lights.
The trunk stayed shut and dust free. I think it will be a nice feature.
Power is great! My ACs have about 41 HP, so going to 62 is quite a bump up. This will take some getting used to.
Mileage appears to be better than the ACs. It looks like I will have the same range with a smaller tank. Win win.
This was the main reason I did not go with a bigger motor. Decent power and longer range beats big power and shorter range for hunting purposes.
Love the fuel injection. Colds starts are a breeze.
The parking brakes gets tighter or looser depending on temperture. Not a big deal with the tranny park function, but the ACs don't do this.... But they don't have a tranny park either.
I like the rear trailing arm setup. With the ACs, when I strap them on to my quad rack, the tires spread apart taking up more room on the rack as the suspension compresses. This makes a tight fit even worse. The Outlander track width stays the same all thru it's travel. I like that a lot. Any handling benefits are an additional bonus.
Thats about it for now. I think she will be a keeper.
