BTW the 2018 850 xp comes with

Besides the new rolled a-arms the lower headlights have 37.5 watt bulbs. Still had my 2012 550xp stock bulbs (50 watt bulbs) and they fit perfectly. We will see if they melt anything or turn on a voltage warning light. Also the front diff pinion gear is supported with a different material. It's not cast aluminum. Looks to be cast steel but don't have a magnetic in the garage to test it out

New Member Intro

Hello all. First time poster here. Just bought a Predator 500. It ran (but didn't start on its own) when I bought it. I started tearing it down to get it running right, and I feel like I'm in over my head. Hopefully this forum will provide a wealth of information. Looking forward to learning!

Is this fishy?

I just bought a used side by side. The seller and his partner buy and sell lots of atv's and side by sides. They told me they currently have over 200K in inventory at their house and I confirmed this by looking at his craigslist adds. He put his name on the bill of sale but had the cashiers check made out to his partner, anything fishy about that? I looked the guy up and he has a few charges and he has a mug shot. I looked up the property listed and he does live there, but neither partner is the owner of the property. It's plausible he's renting , but also seems odd that he could afford that much in inventory but rents. I looked up the VIN# of the side by side and it's clean, he also gave us the title from a previous owner, so i'm not worried about it being hot. What my main concern is I think there is a lot of tax evasion going on. Don't get me wrong I see no need for small occasional sellers of used stuff to report sales tax especially when most people take a loss on vehicles they bought and sell a few years later but when you buy ans sell right away making a profit and it's pretty much his main job as far as I can tell I think you should have to register as a dealer and pay sales tax. It's not fair to other dealerships in the area or other tax payers. I think of the operation as almost being an unregistered used car dealership. I live in a state that doesn't title off road vehicles so he is probably able to avoid being detected from that. Is this legal? Should I blow a whistle, the state has anonymous reporting on their website?

The new guy

Hey everyone I'm new to the Can am world with my 2018 Outlander Max XT 850! I'm from Manitoba Canada and I grew up off roading with trucks. I used to own a Polaris quad but now I work for a John Deere dealership which also sells BRP. Hoping to learn a lot from this group and see what you all do with your Can ams!

Outlander Max XT 850 chirping noise

Hey everyone I'm new to the Can am world as I recently bought a 2018 Outlander Max XT 850. I have about 70 miles on it now and have started to hear a chirping sound which happens at lower speeds and is really bad when riding on rough terrain. If you burp the throttle slightly from a stop off and on it sounds like the clutches are chirping. (Chirp happens when letting off the throttle) It doesn't do it in reverse. It sounds like a dry bushing noise in the suspension but when you rock the quad side to side aggressively at a stand still the noise isn't there. It also doesn't do it for the first couple minutes of riding after it sits for a while. Doesn't matter if it's in 2wd or 4x4. I have warranty but is this a normal thing? It's quite annoying and my buddies 2017 Outlander XT 650 doesn't do it. He can hear the squeak from my quad when he's riding his quad and he has a can on his.
Think it will go away? I think it's getting worse the more I ride it...

The history hose

Hello, all. Long time lurker. I have a very special Sportsman 500 HO, which I will talk about another time. But it has a tube coming through the bottom of the frame. It leads up to the casing at the water pump. Every once in awhile, I believe usually when the machine first shuts off, this hose leaks oil. Not every time, just when it is most inconvenient, it seems. The oil is not over filled, as this actually causes the level to drop enough I'll need to refill it. I attached a photo of the hose and the housing it sits near. Best I've been able to find is a possible seal leak between the motor and water pump. Unsure if this is indeed the cause or could there be another possibility?

tl;dr Why does this hose oil?

help with engine and trans removal

I have a sportsman 570 and I am replacing the frame. I am at the point that I will need to pull the engine and trans next. the manual is stating I need to drain the oil from both the engine and trans, do I actually need to drain them I am? also shod I do the engine or trans first? is there also a trick that would be helpful that is not in the service manual?

Rhino brand axlemail question

So I have a 2016 sportsman 850. I want to buy rhino axles so I can run a lift. The rear is fine, no binding. The front binds so I absolutely need them.

The problem is superatv has the front as a direct replacement for part #1332440. From looking around online this part # isn't even associated with the sportsman or scrambler line. It looks like it's for rzrs. I know that it's probably just a mistake but like wth... superatv is making thousands if not millions you'd think that they would fix stuff like this. You mean I'm the only person that has noticed this? Besides that I need to wait and contact them bc now I'm not very confident that these will even fit my machine. Has anyone bought these and what was your machine? Just ridiculous. Their website is terrible. I really want the rhino 2.0 it's the same deal, I don't even know if they make them for my machine or if they will fit. You can't even select "front" for either product. I can't imagine that they're sold out of fronts. I just think their site sux.

Also the part # for the rear seems to be correct.

Steering Creaking Noise & Stiff – Lubing Lower & Upper Bushing

Within 4 months of purchasing my 2017 1000 XMR, the steering became stiff and made a loud creaking noise. I researched the forums and my service manual. Spraying lubricant down the column didn’t resolve the issue. While replacing my airbox this weekend (melted), I noticed the upper bushing. After cleaning and greasing it, the issue remained. Finding the lower bushing was a challenge so I’m posting pics. It’s above the inner tie-rod ends and is clamped with two 13mm bolts. I used two ratchets (extension needed for the front). After cleaning and greasing the back half of the lower bushing, the steering is now dramatically smoother and quiet.
