Been searching and reading about clutches and springs, understand mostly! Nobody can really know unless they've tried! Bought my quad with a clutch kit and works great, but better is, better! Just lookin for some stories, tips, good videos or charts with explanations, advice, and any other good upgrades! I have an 06 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4 but all stories/tips are welcome!

Transitioning to a SxS which X3?

I currently own an Outlander XT 850 that I really love to ride. Problem is, my aging knees are complaining so it looks like time to go to a SxS. I really like the X3s but not sure which one to get, Initially it was the 900HO under consideration but after seeing one in person I am leaning more toward the Turbo. The type of riding being done is Arizona desert, back roads and trails some of which can get pretty gnarley. I don't do dunes.
Wonder if some of you more experienced folks can lend your opinion on suitability of turbo power for this type of riding. I have read some review comments saying the X3 turbo throttle response is non-lenier so when the turbo hits the machine wants to launch which is not ideal under the circumstances.
Can anyone comment on their experiences with turbo throttle response?

2008 sportsman 400 overcharging/6 wire regulator

I am in the middle of restoring my wife's 2008 sportsman 400.. Needed a TON of stuff done to it. All is sorted out, except for battery voltage going above 17 volts when revved up. Last fall, the regulator had failed, and in turn burned up the stator and shorted to ground. Stator, regulator, battery, key switch, and starter was replaced last week (starter also burned up last fall). The replacement regulator is genuine polaris, bought new. The stator is also polaris, bought used. It ohms out perfectly, and AC voltage is should be. On the regulator, there is 3 yellow wires to the stator, 1 red to battery, 1 black to ground, And a small yellow with red stripe that goes to the speedometer. What does this small wire serve as? With the yellow/red wire unplugged and engine off, i am getting 10.9 volts out of it. with it plugged in and key on, the voltage stays the same. Is the speedo/ecu supposed to feed a reference voltage to it? I have seen this before on honda 3-wheelers... with the reference wire unplugged, it overcharges. Would i be able to simply run a keyed 12 volt source to this wire as a reference voltage? Any help would be immensely appreciated, as i would like to finish this project before april 10th!

The wiring diagram gives no info on the purpose of the 6th wire either.

Help Confirming Next Step, wont start

08 Outlander 800

Full power. Fuel pump primes. Starter will not turn over.

Tried:

Jumping the solenoid. Starter turned over. Fuel primed. Did not start.

Replaced the solenoid. Starter did not turn over. Fuel primed. Did not start.

Next step:

Replace the key? Or replace start switch and key?

Thanks for any advice.

Home made “Plug and Play”.

Hoping this all works out by using factory harness on 570. Polaris winch switch, found female plug that wires to contactor that is mounted directly to Superwinch LT3000, similar to Polaris winch set-up. I will be wiring waterproof circuit breaker under busbar.
