06 Outlander 400 fuel issues

I got back from my vacation in Hawaii and when I went to fire up the Outlander I could not get it to start. It is a fuel issue so I have been looking into what is going on with the fuel.

I put a new fuel pump and carb on the other day and it seems to not prime the carb for some reason. If I open the air box and spray some starting fuel it will fire right up and run amazing.

I see 2 issues right now:

1. The choke is not working. I am not sure if there is something wrong with the new carb or something was connect wrong when I install it. Thoughts?

2. I need to put starting fluid in to get it started so it is not priming the carb at startup.

Any advice to solve this issue?

Thanks,

Craig

New bolt for CVTech primary?

Planning on installing this clutch on my 2018 Renegade 1000. Will I be able to reuse the stock bolt? I read someone had a issue on a 2017 XMR with the stock bolt being too long. Anyone hear of this?

Polaris Sportsman 500 – 1998

Hi,

I'm new here and I appreciate any help on this. I have a friend that asked me for some help with her ATV. She has done a ton of favors for me in the past, so I figured I would see if I can help her out.

This is a Polaris Sportsman 500 and I'm pretty sure it's a 1998 model. I'm going to check the VIN and make sure, but I'm 99% sure.

Here is what she told me. They rode the ATV one day and than in the morning there was a leak on the floor. It looks like the leak is coming from the base of the cylinder, which doesn't look good to me. They also told me that they drained the oil and it was milk color, which probably means water has entered the motor. I asked them if they rode in a ton of water and they told me no, that wasn't the case. I have to assume some where the water pump has got some water into the motor. I have no knowledge of ATV's, but I do have a ton of motorcycle knowledge. I build motorcycles as a hobby, so I'm totally geared up for doing what needs to be done. That being said, I don't want to have to pull the motor.

1) Do you think it's just a head and base gasket that needs to be replaced? It's my understanding this is a strong runner. I will do compression testing before I rip it apart. It needs to be power washed as well.
2) How much am I getting into? I don't want to have to spend 12 plus hours ripping a motor down to do this. I have a WR250 in process that I need to build, 2005 Repsol CBR1000rr, and a full custom 74 Honda CB450, so I'm good with projects right now. I did tell her I would do some research and see what I come up with.
3) I have been searching and it doesn't look too bad to work on these. I have to imagine this can't be that big of a job, but I would like some feedback from some seasoned veterans on this. I have no background of ATV's, but a motor is a motor.

Here are some pics, that might help you guys. The guy spray painted the orange to show me where the leak was (Strange if you ask me). It's drained of radiator fluid and oil right now. I have all the tools I probably need to do the job, unless it requires special tools, which I can get them to buy. Before I dive in and buy a Hanes manual, I figured I would see if I can get some background from people that work on these.

Thanks,
Jonathan

is that Stateline club still going on ?

or it's gone... if no rides maybe some spam around here ?
I couldn't make that Wisconsin annual ride [hopefully this year I'll get some more time] but I really wish to check that "Iron River trail" sometime soon...
I know I've been doing some research before, but it's been awhile, and can't remember if I need Mi stickers along Wi. or not.? Looking to make it before May...

Trail tires?

I have a Renegade 1000 xxc and I am currently running the stock ITP Holeshots. I am looking for a good tire for trails and logging roads. I hardly ever end up in deep mud. I ran Maxxis Bighorn OG’s on my Grizzly and they worked really well. I might just go with those again. Is there better tires out there someone can recommend?

New to me 97 scrambler 400 found cut line

I just bought this scrambler yesterday and I have found a cut line, looks like maybe a cable is supposed to go through it, runs from under the gas tank to a item on the front of the motor that has another line that runs to the carb, did this have something to do with the oil injection? That has been deleted. Thing runs great, cold start is hard. It I know how to fix that. Just trying to restore this so it will be solid, thx for any and all help

570 starting issue

Hey everyone. My 570 sometimes will stop turning over when it builds up compression and I have to "jog" the key 5 or 6 times to make it finish cranking over. Original battery(2015), topped off with distilled water but still does it occasionally. I'm thinking of upgrading the battery to something with more CCA. here's a video from YouTube of what is happening. Let me know what you guys think
