Hello all, I've spent some time looking around and have lots of questions that of course have many biased answers
Do I need to worry about heat?? I see people making a big fuss over heating problems, along with the machine running lean and needing a pipe / programming. Is it true these machines are choked off that bad from factory to make emissions tests? Is that actully a suggested mod at this point and not just being done for power?
I also see a big suggestion to remove lots of plastics to help air flow, and possibly add a fan?
What about the fuss on the diffs? Even the dealer made me feel iffy about them when trying to upsell the warranty. I did get 1.5 years, it will be well used in that time. So I figure if it's gonna break, I'll break it by then.
The rear bushings and brakes seem to be the only common problem that everyone agrees on... And really not much of an issue lol, easy fix. It looks like you just need to do basic maintenance on these machines and not treat them like an old Honda. Grease regularly and check bushing and bearings
One thing I would like to find soon is a nice light bar. Been searching and havent found one I like for a fair price, any suggestions? I tried doing a search in the forum and didn't find much.
I put a kimpex seat on, and it's the one with the stupid velcro seat and never noticed until I was installing it. Has anyone tried to fasten that down better? I have it attached with the velcro but find it still can move around just enough to annoy me
I was thinking my first upgrades would be a nice set of skid plates, but with all this heat fuss I'm wondering if I should be looking into the muffler/programmer?? What's users thoughts on all this? I see about an equal number of people saying they have 10 000km on them with no issues other then normal things. And I see others saying they melted all kinds of things in the first few hundred km's??
Love to see some pics of other 650s. Especially ones with some goodies added on. I have a dirtbike, so I'm happy to leave this thing as close to stock as possible, when I wanna go all out, it's on that. But this bike will be driven hard so I don't mind adding on a few things to help with that. It will be driven two up a fair bit, used for a couple cord of wood every year, and as a snow plow for a decent size driveway.
Thanks from Nova Scotia!
