Anyone have a fix for this? I took some polish but it didn’t help. Maybe wetsanding and polishing? Pic below.

I picked up an 04 outlander 400 as a project for pretty cheap. It felt locked up, but i pulled spark plug out and i could pull it. Adjusted the valves and put it together again and now I can pull it over but sometimes it randomly will lock up like its under a lot of compression and I have to pull again then it will be free. And regardless… its still not easy to pull, definitely takes a lot of muscle, I tried the electric start, but of course, that doesn't work, so I jumped the solenoid, and that wouldn't really even turn it over. Sprayed some starting fluid in and wouldn't fire. I can't really test compression and if I do i know it'll clearly be high, but is this common with these motors?

The machines is a piece of work, both fuel lines coming from the tank will need replaced along with the seals at the tank itself.. so I can't really get any fuel to the carb right now without gravity feeding it, thats why i tried starting fluid, because I already had the air box off anyway. Just wondering your guys opinions. thanks in advance!

The manchine runs fine in 2WD and idles fine in AWD. When I give it throttle in AWD, the engine will sputter and the engine light will flash. Any ideas?

I have a sportsman 500 that I have a few questions about, it has 471 hours but Im unsure of the miles because the speedo does not work. The AWD does work though? what would cause the speedo not to work? also, the front right hub randomly locks into assisting in drive, even with the AWD is off, why would that be?

Another thing that confuses me, is there is no recoil, there is just a solid case shaped like a recoil, but the whole is casted off. BUT.. the plastic has rope marks on it as if either the plastic were swapped or it once had a recoil. Ive never seen one without a recoil though?

As far as the knock goes, its a clean machine, but definetley needs motor work, Ive attached a video of the sound. any ideas?? thanks!

I have a friend that has a 03-04 sportsman 700 and wants to add a plow and a winch to it. What do you guys recommend? Been awhile since I've been on here so any advice would be helpful thanks.

I have a 2016 sportsman 450 and loved the machine until it died on me at the top of a mountain and I had to tow it out with a Honda. Spitting, sputtering, won't run, backfiring like crazy. Does anyone know what kind of gasket goes on the coolant bleeder screw. Did a rad relo. And removed bleeder screw for cleaning it while bleeding out air and lost the gasket. Few days later found a small metal washer on the ground that prob fits but not sure if this is it. Bleeder just leaks now.

Hi I am looking for a good video or thread on how to set the timing on a 92 Polaris Sportsman 400.

My brother in laws ATV is overheating and I have tired everything else, so I would like to check/ set the timing and check/ adjust the valves. If anyone knows a good link please let me know

I have done timing on lots of cars and trucks, but never on an ATV, so help would be appreciated
