Display and head light issue

Yesterday I was out with the Outlander ice fishing and later in the afternoon in really cold conditions I experienced an issue I never encountered before and would like to know where to begin looking. I turned the key switch to head light, nothing happened, then to far right and nothing happened- no lights, no display on dash, nothing.

The machine would turn over, but never started- just cranked and cranked.

What the H would cause this now? Key switch? Would the extreme cold conditions cause this in any way? It wasn't the battery because I have an auxillary LED rack and that lit up well.

Under whelming 2017 Max 850

I recently upgraded from a 2004 Outlander 400 to a 2017 850 Max. I was expecting to be overwhelmed with the increase in power from the 400 to the 850. This is not the case. Regardless of what key I use, the regular or performance, the 850 has terrible throttle response. I can't even get the tires to spin on snow covered ground on initial take off with the performance key. In addition, it has no more power then my old 400 which is needless to say, very disapointing. My question is this. In spite of the fact that the key reads "performance key" on the dash when plugged in, is it possible that the performance key is programmed as a regular key? I barely notice any difference between the two keys in regards to performance. The 850 now has about 40 miles and 10 hrs on the machine.

2001 Traxter 500 Sprag or Seized engine

New to the forum. Just bought a 2001 Traxter 500 foot shift. Was told it needed a sprag clutch. The guy I bought from has had it for a few years and was told this when he got it from a friend. So needles to say it hasn’t been started in a few years.

When you pull the starter cord it doesn’t budge. I can’t get it to turn over.

He had the starter off cause he thought it was stuck. I checked this sprag by trying to move the gear with a screwdriver. I can move the starter gear in one direction but not the other. This should mean this sprag is good correct?

Not sure how to test the sprag in the clutch. I did put it gear it will roll backwards no problem however the wheels lock up when you try to move it forwards. I’m assuming this tells me the clutch sprag is good? Thoughts?

I’ve been reading past threads and have not seen these symptoms with any other sprag issues.

Do you guys think it’s seized?

Brake engages starter – while running

Hi Everyone,

Newb to the forum but owned my sportsman 570 for a few years now. First real issue I have had :)

grabbing the hand brake will engage the starter, engine running or not, key in and key out of ignition. gear position doesn't matter.
trying to see if anyone else has this happen. not sure if I am chasing a safety interlock in the brake circuit or if this is an ignition issue. ie the ignition is 'hanging' in the start positon.

thinking not as I type this because I can start it with the key and once the key returns to the 'on' position the starter will disengage as per normal.

I will add that the foot brake has no effect on anything, purely a hand brake cause / effect.
Also, the STOP / RUN / STOP switch can be in any position and again grabbing the hand brake will cause the starter to spin

thoughts on where to start much appreciated

Outlander Quad versus Maverick Trail 50″

I've read good reviews on the new Maverick Trail as well as the Polaris RZR 50" and the Polaris ACE. These narrow body machines may someday surpass the traditional quad. I like the idea of a lower center of gravity, a longer wheelbase, seat belt and a roll cage. I think these machines are quite a bit safer than a quad. And I think they would be more comfortable for a long trail ride. They would not be as good in the mud.

Do you think the Maverick Trail will overtake the Renegade and Outlander?

Polaris Sportsman 300 primaryclutch

So my 2008 polaris sportsman 300 is having some shifting issues. It shifts fine when the machine is off but struggles to go into any gear after you put it into gear the first time after startup. I thought it may be some belt problems but came to the conclusion that it's not. I am thinking that maybe the one way clutch has gone bad but was hoping for some opinions. When the machine is off I can turn the primary clutch both clockwise and counter clockwise. I attached a picture of what I can turn clockwise and counter clockwise. A lot of the reading is saying the one way clutch but I just wanted to make sure before I attempt to tackle that beast since on the 300 I have to completely remove the transmission in order to get to it.

Basic warranty – Transferrable?

I found a 2017 Sportsman 850 with 28kms on it in Quebec. Purchased new last fall. I have asked for the warranty details as guy didn't know, but will check.

Am I correct in saying it is a 6 month warranty with the purchase of the bike, and can he transfer that to me? It may put me into April which is better than nothing. I have heard of forms being filled out to transfer warranty, but I believe it was for extended warranty.

If I buy it, get ownership signed over, get insurance, take it to Ontario Licence office, pay tax on receipt amount (13%?) and put my plate on it, should be good to go? No Quebec tax on a used one private sale?

Any advice or help would be great!

Thanks

New can am owner

Just purchased a 2018 Outlander 650 max xt in Ontario Canada. Got an awesome deal on my boat and figured I’d trade the water for land. I don’t have the bike yet. Gotta wait for delivery....9 more days!!

2017 570 front diff seal

It just started leaking. Not bad, but there is a small puddle on the floor when it sits over night.
Is there normally a groove wore into the pinion shaft making the new seals leak right away?
If so, do I have to replace the shaft or is there a sleeve that I can buy that goes on the shaft?
If I have to replace the shaft, how is do I get the thing out?
I can move the shaft back and forth just a little, little bit. So I'm guessing the bearings are fine.

This seal leak seems to be a common problem? Why hasn't something been done about it?
I do not go muddin' i use the quad a lot for farm use, it's always running somewhere.

I got a BIG BOSS!

Hey all, I've got an ACE and just bought a 570 Big Boss. What implements are you all using to clean the radiators out in these things? I don't mean what chemical, but has anyone found that ONE nozzle or something that really just works well?

Also, I can't seem to find any forums specific to the 6x6's. Can anyone point me to one, or does everyone just post in here?

Cheers,
Donovan
