08 800 Touring AWD Issue

My 08 800 touring had some issues this weekend in the snow with the front AWD engaging/disengaging. It work work properly until I was really on the gas going uphill in the snow. (No bouncing or tree roots.) I do have 25" STI rocktanes on. It would make a thunk thunk thunk like a clutch was trying to engage and you could see the front tires not turning. I would stop, slowly get on the gas again, and away I'd do for a bit and it would start again. If I was light on the throttle it would be fine. Downhill and reverse I had no issues all day.

After reading some threads and searching, I thought maybe I had the common cage / armature plate issue. Wanted to see what others thought before I tore it down and ordered parts. It does have fresh Polaris demand drive fluid in it. Had no problems in the mud this fall with throttle usage in AWD. Was wheeling with a 2012 500XP and that drive train didnt have an issue.

The pod indicator had the awd shown the whole time, so Im thinking the cage was slipping under higher throttle? Time for an aluminum cage? Thoughts?

Thanks for your time!
Tony

2017 sportsman 450

My husband purchased me a sportsman 450 for my birthday in May, and i love it. New year's day we went riding in our pasture and noticed the quad was getting a little warmer then normal yet the fan was kicking on at 200 degrees. Parked it and went out this morning to go check our game cameras and it wouldn't start, husband works in the fitters union and wont be back home for two weeks so I called my brother over so he could check everything, he noticed there was no fluid in the radiator and he immediately pulled the dip stick. Looks like chocolate milk and it's thick, called our dealer and they told us to bring it in. Long story short they told me it was either sunk in water or water some how got sucked up in the intake. Other then washing it down it has never seen water, now I know when theres water in the oil and nothing in the radiator something internal has failed. Dealership had also said I have no service or any warranty on the quad lol. All the paper work shows what we spent and all the add on's. Has there been any issues with the engines or cooling systems on the sportsmans, quad only has 26hrs and 90 miles on it. Need input, don't wanna bring lawyers in. Any info will be appreciated.

2015 Polaris Sportsman – Never Changed Oil

Hi,

I bought my ATV brand new in March 2015. The oil has never been changed and I'm looking for other's opinions on how bad that might be. It only has 75 miles on it and is mostly used for plowing my driveway and some yard work.

I know this sounds terrible but I haven't been able to take it to get serviced since I no longer have a way to transport it. I do have someone who can come to the house and change it but not before the first snowfall this Thursday.

Can I cause damage if I still used it before the oil is changed? I'll appreciate any advice on this!

Thanks,
Nina

Noise is normal

This is reguarding a 2013 can-am 400xt but also includes all 400's so far...

Issue is a ringing sound after the bike starts coming from the starter drive...THIS IS NORMAL...

I have spent endless hours working with it and no change...This has not got better or worse in 900kms...
Every time I see a video or listen to someone elses , they all make the same sound, even on an atv brand new 400 review video, THERE IT WAS,
Iv'e been like the 400 sound detective every time I see one or here one start...
So don't waste money on this, this is just information for any 400 owners who may have been bothered by this... And there are a lot of 400's out there...:th_smiliefrustrated

’13 Sportsman 500 HO HOT light wont turn off

Newbie here. First time quad owner looking for some help please.

I picked up a '13 Sportsman 500 HO and had it for all of a day before the HOT light came on and now will not go off. The first day I owned it I rode it hard for about 3 hours out on the lake and got her all covered in snow and ice and she ran great. The next day I was plowing with it for about 10 minutes when the HOT light came on. I felt the engine and it was not hot at all but decided to play it safe and let it cool for 2 hours (it's 10 degrees F outside). Now the second I turn the key on the HOT light comes on even without the motor on. I have checked the fan, it works, cycles on after about 5 minutes of running. I have checked the coolant, clean and full. I have changed the oil which was a little low. Cleaned the airfilter.

I assume that because the HOT light is coming on even before I turn on the motor it has to be a bad switch/relay of some sort but don't know where to start.

Any and all guidance is very much appreciated. Thanks

Charging System Issue?

Hi, I need help please. I have a 1999 Scrambler 400 4x4. When i recently got it, it ran Great. After a day of running, it stopped starting automatically but would start with Pull. I took it in to shop, they replaced the Voltage regulator and charged the battery. Got it back, it started instantly and ran great. For 2 days - then it would only start with pull on the 3rd day, then it wouldn't start at all on the 4th day. What should I be looking for? please?

atv in storage

I have 2 2010 550 Sportsman XPs they have been in storage for 2 years. What should I do before I put them back in service. The fuel was stabilized but the engine was not fogged. I plan on draining and refilling the fuel. Any Ideas .. Thanks
