New 2017 Outlander DPS, starting issue?

Hey guys,

Hoping someone on here might be of some help. Bought a new 17 outlander DPS and since day 1 it fails to start on first attempt when cold (sits overnight in 60F).. Battery tests good, starter great, will turn over and then kill. Some times it will turn over and kill after a couple seconds. Today it took 4 tries before it would stay running.

At first I imagined the fuel was old as I bought it off the showroom floor. I took it down to about a gallon of fuel and refueled with 91 non-oxy and 5 caps of seafoam.. 1 hour on the bike. Ran through that tank over the course of a week and re-filled again with 91 non-oxy and 5 caps of seafoam.. i'm a little over a half tank and problem persists. Can turn it off and start it an hour later and it will fire right up and not kill.

It's the same at 60F, 30F, or 3F.. At first I thought it might be cold sensitive but that doesn't make any difference here. Wanted to confirm with the Outlander community before the dealer writes this off as normal operation. Still have 6 months warranty. Thanks in advance.

Are outlanders comfortable to ride standing?

Have always been on a polaris, but the exploding front diff and polaris refusal to warranty it has me looking for another option for 2 up riding. I have a bad back and need to stand while riding much of the time. It looks like the out lander handlebars may be too short for standing. Any thoughts or solutions to this?

Any other major issues I should know about with the new models? Have they fixed the heat problems with the right side and the DPS failing in recent years?

I am looking at a 650 or 800 max.

Thanks.

Tires for Xplorer

I have two Xplorer's 1997 and 2000 both 400 CC with AWD. They both have the original tires and they are all really worn out. My main use for these is on my hunting property where there is everything from Ceder swamps to high hill country. I like the tire configuration but there is not much grip left.

Can anyone recommend a tread pattern/size/manufacturer and possibly where to obtain?

Happy New Year!

Sportsman 500 fan running while plowing.

Just wondered if there is something I should look into since I have noticed the cooling fan running while I have been plowing. I only notice it when bending in front to change the blade angle, so don't know how long it is on.
The first few times were in the 20'sF but yesterday it was under 8F and could also smell a touch of antifreeze. In the summer, I can hear it kicking on and off when going slow on trails, but didn't know if it is common for this to occur when it's so cold.
Also, the coolant reservoir showed full, but the level changes when engine is cold vs hot.

Thanks!
Isaiah

Wasnt there a recall for heat issues?

I've been away for a while but I thought a few months ago I read there was a recall on (some or all ??) 570's for the right side heat issues. If I remember right it said that dealers/Polaris would be contacting owners. I figured at the time I would wait until I heard something instead of just dragging mine in. I bought 2016 570 brand new last summer just before the 17's came out. Is there a recall for these and if so shouldn't someone have contacted me. Just curious, thanks

best aftermarket battery for 2015 570 Sportsman

Ok , I'm looking to replace my factory battery and I am looking for opinions based on experience for the best aftermarket battery for a 2015 Sportsman 570 EPS. Cost is not a issue over dependability. Just want a good reliable battery! What do you guys suggest?

Good, important info on the Torq Locker.

Stumbled onto this thread and found some really good info that I wasn't aware of before. There's been a couple of hiccups but Torqmasters seems to have dealt w/ them and had excellent customer service. Not associated w/ them at all and have never purchased any of their products.
