Working on my 2003 sportsman 500ho that I picked up a few weeks ago.
I wanted to check the condition of the belt and inspect the primary clutch for overall condition.
The primary clutch (with EBS) has seen better days and has hairline cracks running up the sheave. I'll need to replace it. It seems like every EBS clutch I've seen has these cracks in them. Is it a design flaw, poor maintenance or maybe both?
Has anyone else run a non EBS clutch on their sportsman 500? If so, did you have to make any other changes like belt or secondary?
I did this on my previous atv (2000 magnum 500) and ran the same belt and secondary without any problems. It actually ran better without the EBS on it.
