Fuel line to Carb freezes

Hi everyone,

I use my 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 (carb) ATV for ice fishing. The problem I'm having is when we trailer the quad up north, usually its zero degrees out plus the wind chill of driving 70 mph on the interstate, the fuel is freezing in the metal fuel line that goes into the carburetor from the gas tank. The quad will not get any gas and will not start. I've put Heet fuel line antifreeze in the tank, mixed it up, and let the quad run for a while to get the mixture into the carb before loading it on the trailer and hauling it up north. We are going to Mobridge, SD or Devils's Lake, ND usually. This happens every year. The first year we thawed the line by putting a hair dryer on it for 20 minutes, the next year we put a propane heater under the quad for 20 minutes with a cover over the quad to keep the heat in, this last year we put them in a heated garage for 20 minutes to thaw them out. Once they get started they are fine for the rest of the trip, as long as we don't take them for a long ride on the trailer down the interstate.

What could I do or what have people done to prevent this? Would non-oxy race fuel and Heet in the tank fix this? I've tried premium non-ethenol fuel with Heet and that has not worked. I also thought about turning fuel petcock to off and running the ATV until its out of fuel so that it cant freeze in the line. Then just turn fuel petcock to on once I'm up north.

I've thought about putting some heat tape around it that I can just plug into a 120v outlet once I get up north, but cant find any heat tape small enough to wrap around it.

I can't get a cover over the ATV as I have a monster box on it for ice fishing stuff and I don't have an enclosed trailer.

Anybody have any bright ideas?

Thanks

New Sportsman 570 Owner

I've been lurking on the forum for a while now but never posted. Last month I purchased my first Polaris - a 2017 Sportsman 570. I only have a couple hours on it but I love it so far. I've put the Polaris winch and rack extenders on it and upgraded the wheels. I'll be taking it to the hunting camp down here in Alabama to finish out the season. Just thought I'd share a pic.

The two switched power wires under headlight

So I am going to wire up my heated grips and a light bar in the next couple of days. One of the two orange wires located under the light pod has a second orange one coming off of the end of it. Not sure if something else is tapped into that or if its normal? It goes right back into the main harness. Just want to see if there is one better than the other to use for the light or the grips or if it just doesnt matter?

Oil Leak – 1999 2 stroke Polaris Scrambler

Hi - looking for ideas. I have an oil leak on my 1999 - 2 stroke - Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4. A mechanic that I don't trust says "It's leaking from everywhere - it's not worth fixing" - I find that hard to believe, there can't be that many places it could be leaking from - could there? It's not gas/oil - just oil.

Thank you for your ideas.

weight of Apache 360 track system???

I have an Outlander Max DPS 570 (2017!! & yes I've had the re-call from BRP)
I'm planning to get a set of Apache 360 (not LT) for it.

I'll be using it in the hills in Scotland for deer stalking (red deer) in the winter.
I'll need to trailer the outfit from home to hill.
So, in order to work out what trailer I'll need and comply with EC towing regulations I need to know the all up weight of my Outlander (with fuel) and tracks fitted.

But although the Apache's are described as "light weight" I can't see anywhere what weight they actually are.

I know my Outlander dry weight is listed as 336 kg (741 lbs)
So if I can find the weight of tracks and fitting bits I can add that and subtract the weight of the four wheels and tyres. Then add the weight of fuel and oil!

I suspect with my little European car (Dacia Duster 4x4) that will mean a braked trailer, but without the actual outfit weight I can't be sure.

Can anyone help?

thanks,

Alasdair

p.s. moderators I tried to post this topic a couple of days ago but it doesn't seem to have got to you!
If this is a double post please ignore this!!!

2017 570 pod light goes out when winching plow

Just got my plow installed on my new 2017 570 SP and everytime I winch the plow up or down i lose the lights on my gauge pod. Anyone experience this? I also noticed that the mode switches to the tach once in a while when plowing and using the winch. Its been tough to turn over the past few times ive ussed it. Could the battery be going bad after a couple hundred hours total on the machine? Can I put my trickle charger on the non sealed acid battery? I always did on my sealed batteries and this is my first non-sealed one.

thanks!
