01 Traxter Front End Grinding

So after installing a new cv joint on the right side and just now changing out the lock ring to keep it in the differential, on takeoff, the passenger side wheel with spin significantly faster than the other, and make a horrible grinding noise. It goes alright with light input of the throttle, but when under load, it veers to one side drastically. I assume it could be something wrong with the differential gears stripped out or the splines on the other axle are shredded, but if its spinning, I assume that isn't what is bad. However, I haven't checked that other side. What are some signs of a failed differential I should look out for?

Pre filter

It has been over 7 years since I last bought a new machine. On my 18 1000 I noticed there is no pre filter on the air filter? The 17 850 I have is the same way? Did Polaris do away with these or did my machines just somehow not come with them? I just looked on partzilla at a parts diagram and it shows the pre filter on there?

POLARIS PHOENIX 200 – rear clutch removal

Hello friends,

My son's Polaris Phoenix 200 has a problem where I give it gas, but it seems to be slipping? Leading up to this, it had been making a grinding noise on heavy acceleration. I'm thinking the clutch could be going out. In an attempt to inspect the clutch I am having a hard time getting the nut off the rear clutch. It spins internally with an impact on it. Any advice on how to remove this? Anyone else ever experience the problem with it slipping like I described? I appreciate all the help. I've been working on cars for a long time, but new to quads.

Thank you everyone

I just want to say thank you from everyone in this group. It has been nothing but great people with a lot of information. I am new to polaris Atv. I have always had atvs and did minor repairs growing up but this is my first polaris and with all the knowledge in this group combined with the sevice manual i am able to get my OLE lady (2002 Expedition) back on the dirt. I purchased it not running and neglected for 7 years it sat and now it is back and full of life. thank you

2005 500 clutch dragging.

Hi all, my first post on this forum, as I just bought my first ATV for use on my property. Its a 2005 Sportsman HO. Got it pretty cheap but it had a few issues. Replaced the battery, it now starts fine, but the clutch drags constantly, making it nearly impossible to change gear with the engine running.

I pulled the secondary clutch and found all the screws missing and the 3 rollers just rattling around loose! Fixed that, started her up and the clutch still dragging.

With the clutch cover off, the primary clutch looks too be working properly when I rev it, its just that the secondary clutch spins constantly too, even at idle speed of 1100-1200rpm.

Belt looks new, primary clutch seems OK, gave it a clean and put it back in. No better.
Not sure what to do next. Rebuild primary clutch? Replace it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
